Life Skill of the Month

In December, we are reviewing the Life Skills that we have covered thus far. I will be looking for students that display Organization, Cooperation, Assertion, & Responsibility throughout the week. One student will be chosen each week. In addition to a certificate, that child will be entered into a drawing to earn a slushy from the cafeteria. They will also earn the right to wear the Hero cape from our classroom around the school for the next week.

Party Rock

Admission to Party Rock is 40 hands. Just like Bubble Blast, if your child would like a snack and/or drink, they need to turn in 5 hands for a snack and/or 5 hands for a drink. All hands are due by dismissal on Wednesday. Please have a conversation with your child about this as they decide whether or not they want to "spend" their hands.

Please be on the lookout for a Signup Genius from me...

Math

Wow!! Your children blew me away with their MAP scores in Math!! Of course, I could not have been prouder of the results, but I was prouder of the time and effort shown by the majority of the class. It was obvious that they wanted to prove what they know! :-)

We are continuing our exploration of volume over the next week. There will NOT be any Super Star math next week.

ELA

We will take a break from Caesar's English next week. We are passed the halfway point in our words/stems. Taking a three-week break can be hard on them when we return in January. The Quizlet tools found on my website can be an easy, fun way to review over the break.

We will have a TFK quiz on Thursday.

When we return in January, we will get back to using Edmodo for our literature responses.

Social Studies & Science

While next week is busy with extra activites, we will be actively learning and showing our learning. Our SS test on the Age of Exploration will be on Tuesday. The Science test on Astronomy will be on Thursday. I am asking that the notebooks for both subjects be turned in on or before Friday.

The children will have a little extra time at school to work on their notebooks next week, but I don't promise a ton of extra time. Please urge your child to maximize their morning work time on their notebooks. Many of them tend to chat more than work during this time. I'm sure that you do not want to add notebook assignments to the Science Fair project over the break and neither do they. I am hopeful that they will use their time wisely if they hear it from both of us.

Science Fair

Science Fair projects are due when we return from the break. Your child should conduct their experiments at least 3 times. They can run concurrently - this is helpful for experiments that involve "growing" things. :-) They will need to turn in their log book and their presentation board. We will present them in class when we return, then they will be placed in the back foyer for display and judging.

Please do not include your child's name on their board or log book for judging purposes. Your child may place a sticky note on it with their name when they bring it in and I will be place a number on it before it goes in the foyer.
