A Message from Mrs. Booth
As the pandemic impact begins to recede as a result of vaccinations and other mitigation measures, we had the opportunity to relax some of the safety protocols such as no longer requiring masks outside during recess. While the relaxation of the outside masking safety protocol was a welcome relief, outside of that, the CDC recommends that schools continue to use the current COVID-19 prevention strategies for the 2020-2021 school year.
As recommended by the CDC, including that vaccines are not available for students under the age of 12, schools will continue to maintain the current mitigation measures that have allowed us to remain in-person, full-time at the K-5 level through the end of the 2020-2021 school year.
We continue to work hard to safely create a joyful and celebratory environment for all students as we come to the end of a very long and difficult year. While we would love to be able to have traditional events, such as field days, clap out events, and celebration events that include parents and volunteers in and around our buildings, these events are not aligned with our safety protocols in place through the end of June, 2021.
With these familiar safety measures in place, we are planning many opportunities for students to connect with one another and celebrate their year together, while maintaining a safe environment for finishing the year strong and going into the summer months healthy!
We look forward to returning to a typical in-person school experience in the 2021-2022 school year and while we are not there yet, we look forward to what next year will bring. Stay well,
Katie Booth

Supporting the 7 Habits at home!
This month’s Habit: Habit 7: Sharpen the Saw
Habit #7: Sharpen the Saw
What this means: Balance feels best. In order to maintain and increase effectiveness, we must renew ourselves in body, mind, heart and soul.
“I take care of my body by eating right, exercising, and getting sleep.”
“I find meaningful ways to help others.”
“I spend time with family and friends.”
“I learn in lots of ways and places, not just at school.”
How can I do this in my life?
1. Go for a walk.
2. Read a book.
3. Volunteer in your community.
4. Value the difference in others.

Covid - 19 Updates
CLOSE CONTACT QUARANTINE UPDATE
As you may be aware, there has been a significant increase in the number of COVID cases in our community, and across Michigan over the course of the past several weeks. Citing the increasing case rates and variant spread in Michigan, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) has reinstated a standard 14-day quarantine for close contacts of COVID-19 cases effective immediately.
Parents should continue to monitor their child for symptoms and not send them to school where symptoms are present. Additionally, if your child has had COVID-19 in the past 5 months (evidenced by a positive PCR), quarantine is not required. We began following these new requirements immediately and notified all families where an identified close contact quarantine could be shortened under these new rules.
**REMINDER** INTERNATIONAL TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
The Wayne County Health Department, as indicated on the COVID-19 Daily STUDENT Symptom Screening Tool (2.16.2021), requires that students stay home to quarantine for 7 days from the date they return to the U.S. No earlier than the 7th day of return, a student must have a COVID-10 PCR test and have a negative result before returning to school.
SCREENING FORM UPDATED
Please remember to use the Wayne County Health Department COVID-19 Daily STUDENT Symptom Screening Tool (2.16.2021) each morning to determine if your child can come to school. If your child is a close contact to a positive case, please plan on a 10 day quarantine as the 14 day quarantine will only be required in circumstances where symptoms are present or as required by the health dept or your child's medical care provider.
