Volleyball Update
PLAYOFF RESULTS
On Tuesday night the Varsity Volleyball team's season came to an end when they were defeated by HIghlands 19-25, 21-25, 22-25. Although this was not the ending they had hoped for, it shouldn't overshadow the great season they had. The girls were 30-15 overall and 14-2 in district play. The 30 wins set the school record for most wins in a season. It was a season filled with plenty of excitement and lots of memories. Thank you to the 9 seniors for all of your hard work and dedication not only to the volleyball program but to the culture of excellence at the high school. Dr. Suess said it best, "Don't cry because it is over, smile because it happened."
Football Update
Varsity Football
On Friday the Panthers hosted the No. 9 ranked Kerrville Tivy Antlers. The Panthers fought hard for 3 quarters, highlighted by defense and special teams, but the Antlers gained momentum in the fourth quarter. After being tied 14-14 in the third, Tivy finished the game with 21 unanswered points to secure the 35-14 victory and the district championship. Medina Valley secured a playoff spot after Boerne Champion beat Alamo Heights, giving MV the fourth place finish in district. The Panthers will face the Brenham Cubs this Friday in Brenham at 7:30. We’d love to see the Panther Nation represented well in the stands as we look to extend our season with another victory.
The JV Black football team finished their season at Tivy this past Thursday. While the game did not end the way would have liked, the team made incredible strides through the year.
The final record was six and four on the year. Every week the team improved offensively, defensively, and on special teams. We look forward to getting into off-season and taking another step in the building process.
The coaching staff would like to thank all the JV players for their hard work and dedication.
The JV Orange team won an exciting game last night against Centerpoint 26-6! Tymere Garrett, Dax Filinger, and Vlad Holovkov led the way in a great defensive showing. DJ McCauley, Josh Bazan, Torrique Sumlin, and DeAnthony Evans all scored touchdowns as the offense was able to control the game in route to a great team victory for the Panthers!
Freshman Football
Both the Freshman Black and Orange Team ended their season Thursday night against Kerrville. Both teams played with great effort all game. The Panthers finished the season with an overall record of 5-5 and a district record of 4-3. These young men improved every week and we look forward to seeing what the future holds for these young men.
Girls Basketball Update
The JV Girls Basketball team traveled to Kerrville Friday night to take on the Lady Antlers in their first game of the year. After falling behind 17-4 in the first quarter, the girls made a dynamic comeback, ending regulation time tied with a score of 41-41. In overtime, the girls fought hard, but fell short losing 45-44. Leading scorers for the night were Madison Sotelo with 13 points, followed by Kylie Mutz with 9, Essence Cummings with 7 and Morgan Henrich with 6. The girls will take on the Boerne Greyhounds at home Tuesday night at 5:00. Make sure to come out to support your Panthers!
The Varsity Girls Basketball team traveled to state ranked Kerrville Tivy on Friday coming up on the losing end 54-32. Leading the way for the Panthers were Ileana Morales with 11 pts, Clara Arroyos with 6 rebounds, and Michayla Chaffin with 4 steals. The Panthers will have their first home game of the year Tuesday night vs. Boerne.
Swim Update
The swim team pulled a 5th place rank competing against many NISD teams this weekend. The women's team placed 4th earning 53 points and setting three new record times. The 200 Free relay continues to drop time as they work toward preparing for district. The men's team ranked 6th with 44 points and one new record time. All 23 swimmers were able to drop time in at least one of their events which is a good sign for the three remaining invitational meets to come before the team faces district in January.
The next meet is on Friday, November 15, at 5:30 p.m. at the San Antonio Natatorium.

AP PARENT ANNOUNCEMENT
The AP test registration process has changed this year. For the 2019-2020 school year students will register and pay for their exam by November 1st, but will still take the actual exam in May 2020. Students received information in their AP classes the week of September 23-27 on this new process. Just a few things to note:
All students taking an AP test will have to create a College Board Account and register to their specific class using a unique code. This code will be handed out to them when they receive registration information in class.
All students taking an AP exam will go through the Total Registration website to choose and pay for the test they are taking. If they took an AP test here at MV last school year they already have a Total Registration account.
ALL tests have to be chosen and paid for by November 1st.
Please contact Anneke Tschirhart in the MVHS Counseling Center with any questions or concerns. (anneke.tschirhart@mvisd.org; 830-931-2243 ext. 1169)
