Sunflower Weekly Update

Looking forward to the week of October 23-27

It was a short week with students but that didn't stop us from learning and having fun along the way! Meeting with families at conferences was a great way to end our week! Conferences are one of my favorite times of the year. :) It is such a great time to connect with each of you to share successes and partner on ways to best support all student's growth moving forward. If you were not able to join us for parent/teacher conferences, please know that we are always ready to partner with you and are just an email or phone call away!

I hope you all have a great long weekend and have some time to reset after our first quarter. There is a lot to be proud of, so please take time to celebrate all of the growth your student(s) has accomplished this quarter. We can't wait to see you back on Tuesday!

~THANK YOU~

We are SO incredibly thankful for everyone's generosity over the past few days to keep teachers and staff fed, happy and energized during conferences. There were so many tasty treats, delicious soups and sandwiches and lots of snacks to get us through the day! THANK YOU! A special shoutout to our PTO for organizing the sign ups and this effort for our teachers and staff. #Sunflowerengage!

Free & Reduced Lunch Information

Families who qualified for free or reduced lunch last year were given a 30-day grace period to continue receiving meal benefits without a current application on file .That grace period has expired. Full price meal charges will be assessed.

Parents who want to qualify for free or reduced priced meals should fill out this year’s applications online on the district website.

For parents who qualify for free or reduced lunches , they must fill out the Consent for Disclosure form to share their qualifying status with the USD 497 Business Office in order to request school fees be waived . They can fill out the form online and print it and return to the Sunflower office. Sunflower will also have paper copies of the Consent for Disclosure available for parents to pick up at conferences Monday, and all year long.

Both of these forms can be found on the Food Service District website at https://www.usd497.org/Page/1301.

This area is designed to support families that have needs related to food insecurity and to provide information on community resources.

This space is in addition to the sharing shelf that is located in the entryway.

Email Allene Schworm aschworm@usd497.org or call 785-832-5870 ext.1803 to set up a time to visit.

Would you like to support the Pantry? We take non-perishable items during the time the building is open. Please drop these items off in the blue barrel located just inside the front doors.

Items currently needed: Laundry detergent, toothbrushes and toothpaste (children and adults), pasta sauce, Mac n Cheese, rice (white or flavored), canned chicken or tuna, and cereal.
