Remote Planning Day - Monday, March 1st

The district will be utilizing the final planning day provided by the state on Monday, March 1st. Staff will use this time to prepare to welcome the students that are changing their learning environment and for learning in the 3rd trimester. This will be a non-attendance day for students.

Material Pick Up Day - February 25th

All students who are enrolled in the Remote Academy will have Trimester 3 items to be picked up from RTMS on Thursday, February 25th between 4:00-7:00 p.m. Please be ready to pop your trunk for a contactless drop off, and hold up a sign with your child's last name and grade level.


All students who are changing from remote to hybrid learning for the third trimester should also stop by during this time to pick up their lanyard and pad of health certification forms that must be filled in daily.

Hybrid Students - What To Do When Someone in the House is Sick

Whenever there is someone in the household (sibling, parent, or anyone else) that is sick or displaying symptoms related to COVID (fever, cough, running nose, sore throat, stomachache, chills, loss of taste/smell), hybrid students - even if they are not displaying symptoms - also must stay home from school until the sick household member either receives an alternative diagnosis, a negative COVID test, or the student has quarantined for the days required.


Whenever students are experiencing symptoms at school and are sent home, any siblings of the ill student in the district are also sent home and must remain quarantined until the ill student receives an alternative diagnosis, a negative COVID test, or the students have quarantined for the days required. Any students who have to stay home but are well enough to participate should log into their hybrid classes via Zoom.

Reminder: 5Essentials Parent Survey

We need your input! Please participate in the Illinois 5Essentials Parent Survey, as part of the Illinois 5Essentials Survey administration. Your responses will remain confidential and will not be connected to the identity of you or your child. Final reports will only reflect aggregated information of how parents responded as a whole.


For the survey to be validated, we need at least 20% of our parents to participate.

Reminder: Erin's Law

Though it will look a little differently this year, our Social Emotional Learning team (social workers and school psychologist) will be presenting information regarding Personal Body Safety to all students in sixth through eighth grade beginning in March. They will use morning Advisory time to do so, using a Zoom webinar format so that both hybrid and remote students receive the same information.

Reminder: Pandemic Electronic Benefits Transfer Program

What is P-EBT? The purpose of P-EBT is to provide food assistance to families with students who would have received free or reduced lunch while attending school but are not receiving these meals due to COVID-19 restrictions. Please see this letter for more information (information in both English and Spanish).

Reminder: No Cost COVID Testing

In case you're interested, linked below are flyers for a new COVID testing site at the Community Resource Center in Palatine. Appointment only, no out of pocket fee, and results in 48 hours via email and phone (unless you test on Friday, then it’s 72 hours). Many community members without a car have struggled with the IDPH site as they require you to be in a vehicle. The electronic flyers have registration link, and are available in English, Spanish, Russian, and Ukrainian. Please see below.

WHO: EVERY CHILD IN YOUR HOUSEHOLD AGE 18 AND UNDER.


WHEN: STARTING WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 9

WEDNESDAY: 3:30 PM - 6:30 PM

LOCATION: BEHIND RIVER TRAILS MIDDLE SCHOOL


  1. You may come pick up food on Wednesday OR Thursday

  2. Families should stay in cars with windows closed

  3. All persons in car must wear a mask

  4. Indicate with a hand signal the number of children age 18 and under in your home

  5. You will receive one bag per child, containing 7 breakfasts, 7 lunches and 1 gallon of milk

  6. Open the trunk

  7. Have a large box or bin in the trunk for the food

  8. Return home and refrigerate or freeze items as needed

If your child is having trouble with their device, or is having trouble getting into Schoology, please reach out to our Technology Department. There are several ways for you to solicit help in regard to technology. Please use the avenue that best meets your needs.
