Curriculum Design for the ARTS
Building Standards-Based Units and Lessons in Grades K-5
The Southern Indiana Education Center is offering a 2-day professional learning opportunity for teachers of the arts: music, art, dance, and theater. The focus of these days will be the new Indiana Fine Arts academic standards and developing solid units of instruction, including assessments, based on them.
Highlights for participants include:
- Digging deep into the new standards
- Prioritizing and unwrapping standards
- Mapping your school year
- Creating units of study that fit your needs (performances, etc.)
- Building quality assessments
- Content literacy in your classroom
This is a tremendous opportunity to learn as well as meet other directors, teachers, and arts leaders from the southwest Indiana region. DeAnne Taggart, a 21-year veteran fine arts educator and the SIEC Director of Professional Learning, is leading this interactive and current 2-day series for fine arts teachers in grades K through 5. Plan on joining us at the Southern Indiana Education Center and register today!
