Important Information Re: The 8th Grade Class
Parents, if you haven’t responded yet to the BLAST that was sent regarding having your child’s name displayed on the marquee for promotion, please contact Mrs. Granger in the school office asap. We need permission to display your graduate’s name. You can provide this permission by contacting her at sgranger@fcusd.org; contacting the school office; or answering in the Google Form that was sent out to all parents of 8th grade students.
8th Grade Awards Night: May 24th in the FMS Multipurpose Room 6:00 p.m.
Parents of students who will be receiving awards will be notified this week. Students will not know which award they will be receiving until that evening. All are welcome to attend this event. However, if you are not notified that means your child will not be receiving a special award during the ceremony that evening. If you have questions, you may contact Mr. Bose in the school office. Thank you.
8th Grade Promotion: On the Track Field May 27th at 9:00 a.m.
Practice will be held on May 26th (during our last day of school). Students should arrive on the morning of the 27th by 8:30 a.m. They will be instructed during practice where they should gather on the morning of promotion.
There will be a stage and a designated area for the promoting students. There are no tickets this year. Spectators are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, blankets, etc. for viewing. There are many staff and parents who are working hard to make this a memorable event for the students. Students are encouraged to dress nice for the promotion, yet it is outdoors so casual/business attire is appropriate. Please avoid spiked heels as students will be processing on the grass.
Thank you to our awesome PTO and staff who have been working hard on this event.
Thank you to our wonderful PTO who spoiled us during Staff/Teacher Appreciation Week. It is our honor to work with such a supportive community. WE APPRECIATE YOU, TOO.
Thank you, also, to Ms. Johnson and Mrs. Staggs for running our state testing over the last two weeks. This is an enormous challenge to get all our students tested and they ran a seamless operation. Make ups for those students who missed any test will be held during this week.
FINAL I-READY TESTING IS THIS WEEK (MONDAY/TUESDAY)
While state testing is wrapping up, we are also completing our district benchmark testing. This testing provides data that is used by the school and district as we work to set goals and meet student needs based on their performance. We appreciate home support to encourage students to do their best as the information we gather from the assessments provides important information for teachers as the students move onto their next grade….even to high school.
At FMS our Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) is quite active and a great support to the students and staff in helping to create a culture of community on the campus.
Positions for the 2022-23 school year PTO board are open and available. The President serves a 2-year term, and we are in need of a parent to fill this role. The PTO President will work with Principal Daniels and if you might be interested in serving in this position, Principal Daniels and the other members are eager and willing to support you in this role. The 2022-23 school year will be so special as we work to move forward with fun activities to afford our students the ability to connect with each other as we move into a post-pandemic world. Please consider this important position.
The next PTO meeting is scheduled for May 16th at 6:30 p.m. If you have questions, you can contact Dr. Daniels at tdaniels@fcusd.org or reach out to any of the current PTO board members. We hope you will join our team.
