School Priority Day

Our district invited community members to tour selected schools for School Priority Day... and guess what schools were selected to showcase our district?? Rennell and Anthony! We were honored to have business owners, community members, and even a state representative come to Rennell for a tour. The guests gave us numerous compliments on our wonderful staff and students. We are so proud to be a showcase school for the district!

Veterans Day Program - Friday, November 11

Here at Rennell, we are planning to teach our students about Veterans Day and honoring our veterans. We have provided two ways for you to facilitate conversations at home with your child about Veterans Day. We will be sending stars home in your child's folder that you and your child can decorate with pictures and information about a veteran you know that can be turned in and hung up at our school. We would also like to ask for your help to invite veterans in your family to celebrate Veteran’s Day with us. We deeply appreciate the sacrifices they have made for our freedom.

On Friday, November 11 we will have two celebrations at the following times:

8:30 am - Life Skills/Kindergarten/2nd/4th grade

9:00 am - ECSE/PK/1st/3rd/5th grade

PRE-REGISTRATION FOR PARENTS AND VETERANS

All parents and veterans must pre-register for the event using the QR code below or THIS LINK. Only pre-registered parents and their veterans will be permitted to the event. Parents and veterans will need to bring an ID with them to receive their pre-printed visitor badge. You must pre-register by November 9 by 5:00 pm. No late or day-of registrations will be admitted. Please encourage your veterans to wear their uniform or anything to represent their branch of the military.

The ceremony will be held on the hard top at the back of the building by the playground. Pre-registered veterans and parents attending will enter the playground by the back of the school behind the cafeteria (Rennell back parking lot). Seating for veterans will be on the hard top near the cafeteria windows. Due to limited space, there will not be seating for parents- but you may stand on the playground. Pre-registered veterans and parents will be allowed to stay for both ceremonies if you have more than one student and their ceremonies are at different times.

Thank you for partnering with us to teach your child about Veterans Day and honor the veterans in your life.

Guests will be limited to pre-registered veterans and parents. No other guests will be admitted. Please do not bring purses or bags.

Spelling Bee

On Tuesday, November 1, 2022, all 3rd - 5th graders will be bringing home a 2022-2023 Classroom Spelling Bee Study List. All students will be able to participate in the Classroom Qualifying Test, but it is not mandatory that they study the words. The list is provided for those who would like to try to qualify for our Campus Spelling Bee. (The classroom qualifying test will not be taken for a grade.)

In addition to being able to spell well, the student who goes on to represent Rennell Elementary at the District Spelling Bee needs to be a role model, and having good work habits and behavior.

Notes from the Nurse

Winter Clothing Donation

  • If anyone has girl/boy pants sizes 5t – 12 they are willing to donate to the clinic, we would gladly accept them!!
  • Consider putting a spare change of clothes in your child's backpack despite age. You would be surprised how many kids may slip in the mud or spill drinks on them, so you never know when it will be utilized 😊

Return to School After Illness

  • It is that time of year when we see more sick kiddos, and I want everyone to know the return-to-campus policy after an illness. If your child has a temperature of 100.0 F or higher, follow the below instructions so they can return to campus as soon as possible.
  • The nurse needs a picture/copy of a dated covid test emailed to jenise.galey@cfisd.net. It can be a home test!
  • If negative, then the student will need to go 24 hours fever free without medication before returning
  • If covid positive, contact the nurse @ 281-213-554 for further instructions, or you can view the district's Lead Safely guidelines here -> https://www.cfisd.net/leadsafely

Medication Policy:

  • All medication must come directly to the nurse by the guardian. Students may not transport medicine.
  • All over-the-counter medication must be in a new, unopened container and age-appropriate for that child. Sometimes you may not realize the medicine will say age 12 and older, so take a peek at those instructions 😊

It's that time of year...field day is back and we need your help!

We would love to have you join us as we fill the day with activities, laughter and a little friendly competition. To ensure the continued success of our field days, we must rely on the outstanding support of parent/guardian volunteers. Field Day will occur on Thurs or Friday depending on your child's grade. Please see the attached graphic to find out when your student(s) will be participating!

Please note that each session is divided into two parts (1) Activity Rotations and (2) Relay Races. When you sign up to volunteer you will participate for both grade levels for whichever area you volunteer. Your child will participate in both the Relay Races and Activity Rotations so you will see them when they are in your area!

If you would like to volunteer (and cheer on your student), please select an available activity slot on your desired date and sign up! The PTO Website link is below and you can find the sign-up under the Volunteer tab. If you have any questions, please contact Jay Reed at jmorrison006@gmail.com.

Thank you!
