Social Emotional Wellness
Finding the Balance
Students are beginning to get back into the routines and rhythm of school, and we love having them here (in-person or on the computer). As we settle in it is important to keep a finger on the pulse of both their physical and emotional health. Currently, our physical health has taken a greater precedence over our emotional wellness, and for good reason. We want our children to be safe and healthy. With the increasing protocols and procedures, mask wearing, and social distancing, it can get overwhelming. We are here for you and your child as we all navigate through this pandemic.
With our attention being pulled in many directions, trying to balance our emotions can be difficult, especially for a child. A great first step is to talk about the day, both yours and theirs. Check-in with your child about what's happening at school. Talking about their day may be challenging for some, pose questions such as, What was the funniest thing that happened? What was something you knew would happen? Did anything unexpected happen? These questions may spark a memory. They also require your child to think about their response, hopefully leaving you with more than a one word answer. When we ask questions, celebrate small moments, and share stories we strengthen the connections that bind us together. We know that strong connections to family and school improves a child's emotional wellness, which in turn, improves their academic performance. Working together we can find the right balance and support our students physical and emotional well being at home and in the classroom.
Wishing you a happy, healthy weekend.
Student Emergency and Information Form - Due Friday, October 30th

Halloween
New Updates
On Friday, October 30th we will participate in Halloween and Fall themed activities, including school wide Bingo and individual classroom activities. There will not be a Halloween party or parade. Students are welcomed to show their Halloween spirit by wearing Halloween themed clothing or clothing that is orange, black, green or purple.
With the help of Mr. Fell, our amazing QUEST teacher, we will create a video to capture the fun of this fabulous time of year. If you would like to participate, we ask you to take a picture of your child in their costume, of their inspiring jack-o-lanterns or pumpkins or of their favorite fall images. To make this easier, students should use their school device - iPad or laptop. All pictures should be taken before Thursday, 10/29. In class, on Thursday, teachers will help the students upload the pictures to our Fall/Halloween folder and we will then create a video. This should make taking, sharing and saving pictures much easier.
The video will be shared with students, staff, and families. This is an optional activity.
We are looking forward to a great day.

Attendance
Online and Hybrid students need to be present and actively participating in their learning. Having the camera on and being visible to the teacher allows the teacher to note their attendance as present. Students who turn off their camera for extended periods of time and are not engaging in the lesson, or leave the class early will be marked absent. Please send in a note If your child has an appointment and needs to miss class.
