What's Going On in the Library?

The Hour of Code is Upon Us!
Code.org is an international organization with a goal of introducing as many students as possible to Computer Science. During Computer Science Week (Dec. 5-9), Code.org - and the Cranston Public School Department - will introduce kids to the basics of computer programming via the Hour of Code.
At Oak Lawn, students in grades K-3 will work with me during their library classes; 4th and 5th graders will work with students from the high school on Thursday, Dec. 8.

What We're Covering This Month
I'm working on getting all of my lessons and resources online via the LibGuide platform. I also post photos of students and their work on our blog. In addition to Hour of Code, here's what we're currently learning about:
- K - Sorting
- 1 - E call numbers
- 2 - Mock Caldecott
- 3 - Fiction call numbers
- 4 - Dewey Decimal call numbers
- 5 - Paraphrasing
