Attendance Information - NCA

What is an NCA in PowerSchool?

Once a student reaches 6+ absences in a class, PowerSchool will auto populate an "NCA". NCA means that the student will not receive credit for the class due to attendance. Saturday School (time for time) and other opportunities for makeup time are managed by Attendance Dean Mr. Beck

Please check PowerSchool for your student's attendance as we are quickly approaching the end of the semester.

Excessive or Chronic Absences:

Students who receive six (6) absences in any class period within a semester will face consequences such as:

• loss of credit,

• referral to an attendance court,

• making up lost time outside the regular school day,

• other action determined by the school administrator or designee based on the individual’s situation and need.

Absences which are included as part of the six (6) excessive absences are:

• Unverified (A)

• Parent excused (P)

• Truancy (C)

• Illness (V)

If a student obtains six (6) or more absences, they have the option to complete “time‐for‐time” in order to make‐up lost class time. They also may petition for any lost credit. .

8. Credit Appeal Process

An appeal process is available for students who are denied credit because of excessive absences or truancy. It’s the student’s responsibility to contact the Attendance Dean regarding appeals.

For more information, please contact Attendance Dean Mr. Beck at
