ELEM ETS - ISSUE 1

I just wanted to reach out and send you guys some reminders about how to access things from home. During this time of working from home and the new concept of Distance or Remote Learning I will be corresponding with you regularly for any questions or issues you may have and to help support you with Distance Learning with your students.

SETTING UP WINDOWS MAIL

When you are home and not on the Pearland ISD Network you are unable to use Outlook like you use in your classroom. You do have a couple options.

(1) Use Webmail (Pearland ISD website / Staff / Employee Email)

or

(2) You can set up Windows Mail on your tablet

This option does not allow you to access any personal folders you have but you do not have to log into it each time you want to check you email. Try it out and see if you like this option.

ACCESSING MICROSOFT TEAMS

ACCESSING ONENOTE STAFF NOTEBOOKS

This video shows setting up and accessing the Campus Staff Notebook from the beginning. I am confident that each of you has at least been in the notebook once since you received your new tablets this year so when you open OneNote it should be there. But just in case you need help getting to it please take a look at the video below.

Also you can always log into Office 365 and click on OneNote there to access the notebooks as well.

ACCESSING YOUR H:/ DRIVE

You may still have files in your H:/ (home folder) or in campus shared locations you would like to access. You can still get to those locations using the Virtual Desktop.

>>Pearland ISD website / Staff / Virtual Desktop

OneDrive is a cloud-based storage location you have access to as well. You can move your files into OneDrive and have access to them without having to log into the Virtual Desktop.

REMOTE COLLABORATION IDEAS

You have many options how to collaborate with your grade level/colleagues:

(1) Good ol' fashioned email and phone calls.

(2) OneDrive - you can share documents in here with multiple people and all be in the document at the same time working.

(3) OneNote - you can set up a notebook where you can share files, plans, pictures, etc.

(4) Microsoft Teams - video conferencing capability, sharing files, team chats. Below is an intro video about Teams and how to use it.

Welcome to Microsoft Teams

I am available during the day to assist you in any way I can. I will have "virtual office hours" starting Friday, March 20th from 1:00pm-2:00pm. I will be available virtually everyday (M-F) at that time. More details to come how that is going to work.

In addition, I am always available by email or if you need to call me I can send you my number.

Let me know how I can support you!!
