Thinking of Summer
Thoughts for Summer Programs
In addition to booking some wonderful events for the kids and teens summer reading program the Friends are thinking of doing some new things for the adult summer reading program! One idea has been to kick off the program with a cook-off event featuring local politicians and celebrities who would prepare summer salads, present a short talk on each preparation and then we could have the audience taste test and vote on the best salad. We are also considering another open-book night where folks speak about a current book they have read and finally a cupcake decorating class. Any other ideas for this summer? Summer Concert and Fundraiser
On Saturday June 4 at 2 pm in the Tuckahoe Community Center Friends will once again host The New Westchester Symphony Orchestra (http://www.newsymphony.org/) and hold our annual Chinese Auction and 50/50 raffle. Over 75 local businesses donated incredible baskets, gift certificates, and assorted items. The Friends provide cookies and beverages following the concert. It's a lovely afternoon so plan to attend. We are actively looking for donations from local businesses so if you have ideas email us.
Lots of great stuff to bid on!
