Livonia PTSA Council Courier

News for November 17

What's the big deal about COMPLIANCE anyway?

Did you remember to send your information to the Michigan PTA, with copies to Livonia PTSA Council?
  • Unit Dues & officer information (due June 1)
  • Audit
  • Budget
  • 990 (due Nov 15)
  • 25 Members (due Dec 1)
  • Up to date BYLAWS (review/approve every three years)

So, why do we collect that information EVERY year? The Michigan PTA MUST collect that information in order to maintain their IRS charitable organization standing - and yours!

The Livonia PTSA Council requires copies as a backup. If something is lost, we have a copy. We can confirm that you sent your information. Sometimes things are misplaced during transition from one board to another. We're your backup.

We can also identify if there might be a problem - when information is missing or incomplete. We'd rather be able to identify a potential problem, and save you a phone call (or several) with the IRS.

If you have questions or concerns, CONTACT YOUR LIAISON!

REFLECTIONS ENTRIES DUE THIS WEEK!!!!!

It's time to finish up those Reflections entries so that they can be turned in to Council this week. Drop off location is at Niji Iro Elementary - 36611 Curtis (between Levan and Newburgh) on the following dates and times:
Wednesday November 19 from 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm
Thursday November 20 from 12:00 pm - 1:30 pm

Please contact Cyndi Pierzynski with any questions at cyndi.pierzynski@livoniaptsacouncil.org
Special thanks to Niji Iro principal Karen Young for accommodating our Reflections collection!
Have you tried the DONATION METHOD BAKE SALE yet? Do you believe that you can make more money with less work? We have the proof - as seen in the results above. By asking for donations rather than pricing your baked goods, Units have seen profits nearly double. There is less work (no anxiety in having to price items) and people tend to donate more than what a volunteer would normally price items. It does take some faith and courage, but the results seem to indicate this is the way to go. Make sure to let people know WHO you are, WHY you are fundraising and HOW you will spend the money raised!
