CONGRATULATIONS, Fall Semester "Readers Are Leaders"!
Four students have completed requirements to be recognized as "Reader Are Leaders". Great job, Krystal Vallejo, Abel Macias, Yesenia Perez, and Anissa Puente!!!! They each read twenty books or more ranging within their ZPD and earned an 80 percent or higher average overall. Krystal was recognized as the Top Reader with the most books read. These students are true examples of leading the way for others to follow. Pictured are Krystal, Abel, Yesenia, and Anissa.

Texas Library Snapshot Day at CCTA
Boy, did we have a blast! Students and their children had the opportunity to participate in several library activities. They tie dyed t-shirts, dressed as superheroes, won prizes, and had their children fingerprinted by the Pharr Police Department. Our library activities were photographed and posted on Flickr in participation of the Texas Library Association's Texas Snapshot Day. Click on the Flickr link below to view more pictures.
Peace Love Read T-Shirt Fundraiser Contest Winners
From among the high schools in the district, we sold the most t-shirts for the District Library Department. As an incentive, Author Lindsey Lane conducted a writing workshop with students. During a Q&A session, Criminal Justice dual-enrollment students were able to ask Ms. Lane about her career as a journalist which included her interviewing death row inmates.
Library Presentation at Parent Meeting
In November, Mrs. Hernandez presented at our monthly parent meeting. She introduced attendees to the library webpage and provided them with our library brochure which includes usernames and passwords to library e-books and MackinVIA.

As per District Library Coordinator Nora Galvan, "...Each staff member that has turned in a form and attends the book distribution will select 20 books each, (custodians, cafeteria workers, cross-guards, clerks, secretary, paraprofessionals, teachers, assist. principals, principal, librarian, counselor, nurse, etc. They need to make sure to take their school ID. Students will get 4 books each, they need to take their school shirt... Thank you for your hard work and effort."
