Book Fair Needs Volunteers!
Book Fair is coming up on March 24-March 31st! We NEED 50+ volunteers to help make the Book Fair a success and a positive event for our kiddos!
Please click here to check out times to volunteer in the library throughout the week. This is a great opportunity to see the students in person for an hour or two enjoying their time of selecting a book or books with their PTA Bulldog Book Bucks. There are times available before school, during school, and after school as well. We hope you will join us and volunteer for an hour or two.
EVERY CHILD in TK - 2nd grade will receive a $8 Book Buck to spend at the Book Fair. EVERY CHILD in 3rd grade - 5th grade will receive a $12 Book Buck to spend at the Book Fair. EVERY CHILD will also receive a "Go Bulldogs" pencil as well.
THANK YOU, PTA for providing this opportunity!
Note from the Principal
Greetings Buena Vista Parents,
I can't believe we have now entered our last trimester of the 2022-23 school year! It has seemed to fly by and I know the next 10 weeks are going to go quickly. We have a lot of fund events coming up thanks to our amazing PTA. At the end of this month we will have our Scholastic Book Fair and Lunch in the Breezeway! It was so great to see "grand" people (special adults) sharing lunch with our students last year, I am happy to welcome you all back. See the schedule and RSVP doc below. Also coming up are our BV Glow Dance, the BV Jamboree and Movie Night. Please make sure to read our weekly eNews so that you do not miss any of these exciting events!
Attendance Reminder
Attendance Matters, You Matter! Regular attendance and being on time are very important for our students and their learning and growth. Thank you for supporting this important message with your children. Please also remember that school begins at 8:10am each day, except for Wednesday which starts at 8:55am. It is important that students are ready and in line on the blacktop when the bell rings so they are not coming into the classroom late and disrupting their own learning and the learning of others. Thank you for making sure our students are on time to school and attend regularly!
Safety
This is a gentle reminder to please be careful during drop off and pick up each day. Our staff does their best to support the ease and expedite the process but it is difficult when we have parents who are not following the traffic laws. As a reminder, there is no parent parking in the Kindergarten circle. All parents who drop off or pick up in this area should remain in their car at all times. We have our safety patrol in the morning to help have student disembark from their cars and walk to class. This is a fire lane and stopping and parking here is a hazard. If you want to walk your child to class we ask that you park on Buena Vista, San Juan or in the Alvarado parking lot. I have also seen an increase of parents riding bikes or motorized scooters with their students to school. Please be sure to adhere to all safety laws and always wear a helmet. When you arrive to campus please walk your bike/scooter/skateboard to lock it up. We appreciate you cooperation and setting an example for our young learners.
Book Fair and Lunch in the Breezeway
At the end of the month we will be having our Scholastic Book Fair (March 27-31). This year our PTA is sponsoring students, so each student in our school will have the opportunity to select a book that they would like to purchase with "book bucks" from the book fair AND they will get a school pencil as well. During book fair week, we will have our Lunch in the Breezeway and bring a "Grand Person to Lunch" event. A schedule will follow next week, but students will be able to invite a special adult (Grandparent, parent, uncle, aunt, etc) to come on their grade's assigned day and eat lunch with them. If they'd like they can visit the Book Fair when they are done eating. Students and parents were very excited about this last year and I am glad we can do it again. Here is the RSVP form for Lunch in the Breezeway!
