NEW FAMILIES ENROLL NOW!
Even though we are currently experiencing a school closure, we are still accepting new enrollments for next year at all grade levels 4K, 5K and up through 12th Grade. If you are aware of any families that are new to the area or moving to Franklin, please help us to pass the word along that all registrations can be completed online at our Enroll Page here. Enrolling now puts you in our system and once the school closures are lifted, we can accept any required documentation for registration (proof of residency, birth certificate, etc) at the main desk of any of our school buildings.
4K or 5K Students? Know of any children that would be entering 4K or 5K next year? Please help us by passing along this information to friends, family or those new to the Franklin area!

MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Dear Ben Franklin Families,
We have arrived at the last week of school! It is unbelievable that the 2019-2020 school year is coming to a close. We have worked together to build community in the most unusual of times and it has helped us truly build empathy and understanding. I can’t say enough how much the staff and I have appreciated your dedication, perseverance, flexibility, and willingness to engage your students in the best version of school we could create and to assist them in learning. Hearing about students’ progress, engaging with them digitally, and continuing to build relationships with families has been a privilege and I have appreciated having the opportunity to continue doing so. Thank you for your students, time, and effort. We couldn’t do it without you!
As for me, I’ve learned how to work successfully at home with my co-workers, which was a growing experience for us all. Baker learned how to relax successfully during the day and enjoyed many midday walks when I needed to move for a bit as the weather got nicer. My fiance enjoyed practicing law at home as well, but pointed out fairly consistently that I speak with a very loud voice on Google Meets which makes it difficult to draft letters and what not (this I’m continuing to work on). I miss the students and seeing staff in person and am looking forward to being back in the fall. Please keep an eye out for communications from FPS as we continue to plan, adjust, and plan more for what this will look like for all of us. Again, thank you for all you have done and for learning and growing with us.
Please enjoy one last week of staff read alouds. <3 It was a pleasure to provide you one small way to continue connecting as a family and to build community. You can check out the read alouds from previous weeks (see links below) as well if you’ve got a favorite.

HAPPY HOME
The ES3 team would like to share a new feature with you called Happy Home. Each week we will pass along some tips to help keep your home as happy and healthy as possible during Safer at Home. ES3 is a three-year state-funded grant program with the mission of improving outcomes for students who require social and emotional support. We can ALL use social and emotional supports, especially now, so we hope you enjoy!
Creating a Movement Pathway at Home
Our tips this week focus on providing your child a thoughtful physical break to help relieve stress, improve attention, and release built up energy. With students spending more time in front of the computer screen, it is critical that students can balance this sedentary lifestyle with planned brain breaks in the form of physical movement. This provides your child time to release energy in the body and brain, so there is an increase in time on task and attention to academic lessons. Source: Your Therapy Source.
STUDENT MATERIALS PICK UP REMINDERS
On June 9 and 11 families will be able to pick up students’ items from school. The directions were emailed directly to you on May 22. If you need the link, here it is. If you have questions, need an adjusted pick up time, or anything else, please feel free to reach out to me or Mrs. Behrens. Here are a few quick reminders as you think about item pick up/drop off this week:
Please take a moment to review the directions and map for student item pick up. Specifically review the map; we are setting up reverse of curbside pick up after school, so be sure to take a look.
Please separately pack items for the Library (books, etc.) in a bag labeled “LMC.”
If you are leaving the school district, please be sure to bring your student’s technology to drop off.
If your student had classroom-specific items such as snap word cards, book club books, or classroom library books (typically labeled with BF and/or teacher’s name), put them in a bag labeled with the grade level and teacher’s name. Teachers may have emailed to let you know which items they sent home specifically to look for to include in these bags. Please follow classroom item guidelines as requested.
If you have an item (such as a gift) for your child’s teacher that you would like them to receive before returning in the fall, please pack that separately in a bag labeled with the teacher’s name. I will work to get them to the appropriate staff members in June. :)

ATTENTION 5th GRADE PARENTS/GUARDIANS:
Wisconsin Student Immunization Law requires that all students entering the 6th grade receive a dose of Tdap vaccine. To be compliant with state law, Franklin Public Schools must be provided with proof of an immunization or a waiver must be claimed. If your child has not already received the Tdap vaccine, work with your pediatrician or primary care provider to schedule the vaccine. Many local pediatricians and family care providers will be restarting (if they haven’t already) well child appointments and/or will be completing necessary immunizations. Record the date of the immunization in the appropriate box on the student immunization record link below and sign the form. The state of Wisconsin allows for waivers for immunization due to health, religious, or personal conviction reasons. To do so, follow the instructions on the student immunization record and sign the form. All signed forms can be emailed, faxed or dropped off? If you have any questions, please contact Lori O’Neil, District Nurse at lori.oneil@franklin.k12.wi.us Please click here for the immunization fact sheet.
