Pacific High School Receives National Recognition for Commitment to Empowering Students
MVR-III school superintendent, Dr. Carrie Schwierjohn shared, “Congratulations to Pacific High School and the district on this outstanding national recognition. Our board of education and staff are committed to providing an innovative and high quality education to all students, and the PLTW Distinguished School award recognizes the hard work and dedication of our staff and students to achieving this vision. I am very proud of PHS and all of our MVR-III instructional programs, and just as we expanded PLTW in our elementary schools this year, we will continue to expand STEM and career-based learning opportunities next year and beyond in all our schools.”

Coleman Elementary
Each year, Coleman students participate in the annual poster contest. Coleman teachers are proud to share that the first and second place winners for the contest are Coleman students.
Addison Thurman, 1st place winner, received $30 and will be featured in the the Soil and Water Conservation Magazine. Additionally, Noah Phillips, 2nd place winner, will be mentioned in the news article.
Nike Elementary
Nike Girls on the Run group demonstrated resilience during their 5K run on May 14th. The group of girls endured the warm weather and long miles to complete the final activity for their season. Leading up to the 5K, the girls met twice a week for 8 weeks and worked on relationship skills. The lessons taught included activities on how to show empathy, how to be a good friend, and how to encourage one another. We are proud of the Nike Scouts for displaying true resilience during their race.

Zitzman Elementary
In January, Zitzman students set a goal to read a million minutes before the end of the school year. All the students tracked their reading minutes with the support of their families and teachers. Students counted time spent reading at school, as well as at home reading. With no surprise, the student's met their million minutes reading goal during the second week of May. The completion of their goal was just in time to celebrate with Kona Ice, an inflatable obstacle course, and an inflatable slide to add to the annual field day activities. The end of the year celebration for reaching academic goals and celebrating friendships was a success by the smiles on students' faces.
