A Peek at the Week for Layton Elementary
Culturally Responsive Teaching
How are you learning about and responding to the culture of your students? What kind of a responsive culture are your creating for your students?
Helping Others Find Their Light
Working with people is a privilege. Everyone can learn about the goodness, richness, and value within them. I love this quote because it gets to the heart of growth mindset. A teacher I worked with had his students memorize part of this quote every year. It was fun to see them come to believe it.
Ten Ways to be Culturally Responsive
Examine your practice with the students you work with. Which of these practices are you already doing and which can you work on? This is all about digging deeper than teaching kids content; it is helping them find out that they can learn and become more independent.
What Relevance Means in Learning
For learning to stick, it must be relevant. It is tightly tied to rigor because kids are willing to go deeper into the learning when it is relevant. How can you bring greater relevance to the learning of your students?
Communication!
You know how when you really are trying to listen, but there are a million things that go on and pretty soon it all sounds like gibberish? Well, this is a great little video that will remind you how simply communication will be if you are on the same wavelength! Gotta love these little guys!
