October Activities
Raven Homeschool, Juneau Office
September in Review
September was a very full month with a lot of fun activities and clubs getting started. Many families came in for School Photos, and it was great to see all the students looking so nice for their pictures. The Yearbook Committee created the first video advertisement for the year to promote pre-ordering early and submitting artwork for the Cover Design Contest. Our JrFLL and FLL teams began to meet weekly to work on the challenge for this year, and Officer Cryderman started teaching D.A.R.E. classes for 5th -6th graders. Despite the pouring rain, we had a fantastic turnout for our Fall Picnic at Sandy Beach and we all stayed cozy in the shelter while we enjoyed food and fellowship together. We had two PAC meetings this month, one during lunch where we enjoyed a meal together while planning Oct activities, and one Raven-wide where we got to collaborate with all the other offices to share info and ideas with each other. Art teacher Rocky led some fantastic art workshops for our students by videoconference and the kids produced some wonderful looking salmon watercolor artwork. We finished off the month with a full-day excursion to the Tracy Arm Fjord for families to enjoy whale watching and seeing the Sawyer glacier. This month had many opportunities for new and returning families to connect with each other and with Raven staff as we dive into the school year together.
