What Is the Workforce?
Entering the workforce means becoming a part of the population that provides goods and services in exchange for a wage or salary. The workforce, or labor force, encompasses everyone who is employed in private enterprise, such as those who build cars, work at banks, and run farms; the public sector, such as public school teachers, members of the armed forces, and police officers; and the nonprofit sector, such as those who are community organizers, members of the clergy, and workers for charitable organizations.
Ten things you should know before entering the workforce
- Employers will look at your social media profiles.
- Communication skills are crucial.
- Dress to impress.
- Do not look at your phone during a meeting.
- Mistakes happen.
- Feedback is important.
- Build good relationships.
- Your kindness can make a difference.
- Be willing to help.
- Learning never stops.
