Principal's Corner
Tardiness - A friendly reminder that school starts at 8:15am, and we would love to see all students arrive between 8:00-8:10am. We appreciate your support in reviewing the importance of being on time to be an active and engaged learner who is ready to learn! Reminder that next year our school day will begin at 8:10am so getting here early is a great practice for next year!
Breakfast Changes - beginning 4/25
We will open the doors at 8:00am and serve breakfast until 8:10am. Students will walk through the line and grab a breakfast (not hot this year). As students finish they will be dismissed to the classroom. Students that miss breakfast will NOT have the opportunity to order a take home breakfast starting Monday, April 25th.
Title 1 Survey- We need your help
Title IA provides financial assistance to local educational agencies (LEAs) and schools with high numbers or high percentages of children from low-income families to help ensure that all children meet challenging state academic standards. Our school receives Title IA funding.
To help us continue to grow and improve our support of students, would you please take five minutes before May 6, 2022 to complete the survey linked below? Thank you!

Spotlight On..... Mrs. Richardson's Kindergarten Classroom!
I have taught Kindergarten for 8 years. I taught Full Day Kindergarten for 1 year in Arizona, then taught Half Day (AM/PM) Kindergarten at Slate Hill for 6 years, and I am in my first year teaching Full Day Kindergarten here at Slate Hill.
Right now in Kindergarten we are working on addition and subtraction, learning digraph sounds (th, sh, ch, wh, ck), and growing as readers and writers. We are also in the middle of our unit on living things. We kicked off this unit with a fun visit to Stratford Ecological Center right before Spring Break where we saw chickens, baby goats, a greenhouse and so much more! Soon we will have live ants and caterpillars arriving to our classrooms.
So far in Kindergarten our students have really enjoyed Writers Workshop. They love having a special time during their day where they get to share their stories and express what they have learned. They have gone from drawings and dictations, to sounding out words and writing stories that are multiple pages. They love to share their work with each other!
