Principal's Message
TJ Community:
I cannot believe it's already February! We spent some extra time these past few weeks going over all of our expectations for students in order to make our school as safe and orderly as possible. I know as an educator, when students know what is expected of them, and they can count on their school environment to be consistent, they are able to learn at the most optimal level. I'm so proud of everyone's efforts.
As you recently read, we are also changing our communication procedures when we learn of an identified positive COVID case in the school. As a reminder, information about these changes can be found here.
If you have any questions, about the start of 2022 or any other questions about TJ do not hesitate to call the school. 847.963.5400.
Sincerely,
Dr. Sasso

5Essentials Survey
TJ Parents:
Each year the State has schools (parents, staff and students in 4th through 8th grade) take the 5Essentials Survey.
The survey provides us with valuable information we can use for our future planning. We only get the results of the survey if we get 20% or more of our parents to take the survey.
If you have not done so already, please consider taking this survey.
Although it will ask for your email, we will not receive any personal information from the parent responses.

SUMMER READING OPPORTUNITY!
The Center for Literacy at National Louis University is offering a Summer Reading Program to help students who are experiencing reading and/or writing difficulties.
Tutors are licensed teachers who are earning their graduate degree as a Reading Specialist.
Students receive one-to-one tutoring in reading and writing one hour per day, four mornings per week, for five weeks.
The program will run from June 27-July 28, and daily attendance (virtual or in person) is mandatory.
Services will be available in English and Spanish.
D15 students can register for a discounted rate of $100!
The Multilingual Department will cover this cost with grant funding for any EL student. Parents can fill out the application online (link in the flyer) and do not need to pay anything. Our Department will collaborate with NLU to provide payment on behalf of our EL families.
General education students experiencing reading/writing difficulties can also sign up for the discounted rate. Parents can sign up directly with NLU using the link on the attached flyers.
This program will fill quickly! Please help us fill the spots with D15 students who would benefit from this valuable opportunity.
