Where Excellence is the Standard -Week of September 12, 2022
Principal's Message
Dear Lion Families,
As we begin our fourth week of the school it is time to highlight two key activities this week. First let's remember open house is this Monday, September 12, 2022. Open house will run from 6:30 - 8:30 pm. Open house will begin in the auditorium with a brief presentation prior to releasing parents to walk their student's schedules. You should also look forward to receiving a TEXT from your students during Pride Plus Advisory. This should happen between 11:00 - 11:30. Tomorrow they will participate in an activity where they will send you their schedules along with room numbers.
This Tuesday is our yearbook picture day. Students and parents should have received information regarding pictures day. I want to stress that you are not required to purchase a picture package, but we do expect that every student take a picture of our yearbook. There will be an opportunity for makeups for those students who are absent or unable to take pictures.
I would like top review steps we are putting in place to help ensure a positive climate and culture but also support a safe and secure environment. Please take a few minutes to read through ID expectations starting this week, and tardy policy.
- ID: This year, as an increase to our safety measures, students and staff are required to wear their identification badge at all times. Student badges will serve as the student ID and SmartTag all in one card. We will begin 2nd period ID Check. Any student found without an ID will be issued a replacement at a cost of $5.00 and will be placed on the fines list. Being on the fines list will keep you from qualifying for exemptions.
- The majority of our students are wearing their ID's, but some are leaving it in their cars or leaving them at home. As stated above, the a new ID will be issued.
Being punctual is a key component to being successful. Being on time to class is an expectation. Below is the campus tardy policy. Please review the policy and campus expectation with your students.
- Tardies: Tardy students must have tardy pass to enter the classroom. Teacher collects tardy pass and discards the pass, so it is no longer used as a pass.
- 1st - 4th Tardy offenses are warnings.
- 5th Offense: Lunch Detention
- 6th Offense: Lunch Detention
- 7th Offense: Lunch Detention
- 8th Offense: Saturday School
- 9th “+” Offense: ISS
We want everyone on the same page. We are here to help. Our goal is to help you and your student achieve their goals.
Sincerely,
John Montelongo

Campus Highlights
NEWCOMING WEEK RECAP FROM THE STUDENTS
How do you feel about spirit week at school?
“I love spirit week, I think it’s super fun to get involved and dress up and be a part of NEWcoming week,” Gonzales said.
What was your favorite spirit day this week?
“My favorite spirit day was probably pajama day because it was super comfy, I wore like this huge blanket on me,” Gonzales said.
What was your favorite outfit that you noticed on a student or teacher this week?
“There were two people, on Celebrity day, I thought their outfit was super cool and the best. It was basically a perfect idea, it was awesome,” Gonzales said.
NEWcoming PEP Rally
The purpose of a pep rally is to encourage school spirit and provide students, faculty, sports teams and others the chance to honor and celebrate their team in preparation for the upcoming game or event. We took time to highlight our teachers, student athletes and school pride during our black out pep rally this week. It is always goof to inform everyone about the events, generate excitement for it, honor the team’s accomplishments, create school unity and demonstrate good sportsmanship.
Student Celebrations with Mr. Montelongo
Can you imagine marking the birthdays of more than 1,200 people?
Probably not, but Mr. Montelongo, can. With the help of a massive spreadsheet and a talented campus leader, he hand-delivers and mails out a birthday card to every student and staff member in here at Randle HS.
Montelongo talked to campus leaders about how recognizing birthdays helps get to know students, and to bulid a positive culture of family here at TRHS.
PTO - Meeting
We had our first PTO interest meeting. We had an amazing turnout with our second meeting taking place September 28, 2022. All meetings will be held the last Wednesday of each month. The focus of the RANDLE PTO is to work collaboratively in creating learning opportunities for our students. We are working to identify our student presentations for the 2022/2023 School year. We are focusing on the following topics:
- Bullying/ Cyberbullying
- The Impact of Social Media
- Texting and Driving
- Mental Health
The PTO is for everyone and we hope you can come September, 28, 2022 at 7:00 PM in the LGI room.
ID cards and Student Agendas
IDs and agendas are a requirement. All students are expected to wear their ID's daily. In order to leave the class for any reason, every student must be wearing an ID and have their agenda completed and signed by the teacher.

SAFETY MATTERS
THIS IS IN FULL EFFECT FOR ALL EXTERIOR DOORS THIS YEAR!
THIS IS IN FULL EFFECT FOR ALL EXTERIOR DOORS THIS YEAR!
- Do not knock or beat on doors in order to enter the building.
- You must walk around and enter through the front entrance.
- Leaving a door propped open is a safety hazard.
- All doors must be locked and closed at all times.
PICTURE ID SMART TAG REQUIRED FOR ALL LCISD STUDENTS AND EMPLOYEES!
This year, as an increase to our safety measures, students and staff are required to wear their identification badge at all times. Student badges will serve as the student ID and SmartTag all in one card. This will happen during the first week!
We will also provide all students and staff with an emergency safety card to be worn with their ID Badge. This requirement is just one of several new safety additions that we are incorporating this year. The safety card contains Lamar CISD's Standard Response Protocol, important emergency numbers, as well as a QR code that links directly to the District's anonymous tip line. Badges will be distributed with student SMART Tags.
In addition, the Communications team has produced a safety video for you to share with your campus community and families that highlights the safety standards that have been in place and what additions have been implemented this year.
Cell Phone Policy
Your child's education is of the utmost importance to us, therefore we want to place a priority on minimizing distractions. Beginning Monday, August 22, 2022, Randle High School has instituted a no cell phone policy during class.
Students are allowed to bring cell phones to school and are allowed to use them before school, during lunch, and after school. Phones should not be visible and in use between passing periods or during class, unless students are provided permission by the teacher.
For clarification, cell phones can be in the student's possession, but the phone must be put away during the instruction. If a student has their cell phone visible, without teacher/staff member permission, they will be asked to give their cell phone to the teacher/staff member. They will receive their cell phone at the end of the day from the front office. The following information will be posted in every classroom:
- Phones must be put away at ALL TIMES during instructional time, unless there is an instructional purpose GIVEN by the teacher. If you refuse to follow this expectation, it will result in a discipline referral. (NOTE: Phones are allowable before 8:15 AM, during the student's 30-minute lunch time, and after 3:40 PM.)
- Ignoring a teacher or staff member when they ask that to put away your cell phone will result in a discipline referral.
- All students must have their planner hall pass signed by a teacher to be out of their scheduled class. Students without a pass will receive a discipline referral.
- Instigating, participating, or video recording any type of altercation, harassing/bullying, or any other student code of conduct offenses with your cell phone will result in a discipline referral and possible alternative school placement.
Please know that educating our Randle High School students is our number one priority, and we place a precedence on having a safe and secure school. We appreciate your support and partnership in maintaining an environment and culture where learning is the focus.
