The Hawk Report
Christa McAuliffe MS Parent Newsletter - Week of April 24th
A Message From Our Principal, Mr. Lemon
Greetings Hawk Nation Parents and Students,
Our first week of STAAR testing was a success with students truly taking their time and trying hard on the STAAR reading exams. We know they have done well and look forward to the results coming back this summer. We will continue STAAR testing this week, with our 8th grade students taking the Science and Social Studies tests. They have worked hard all year long in preparation for this moment, and we know they will do well. Please encourage them each day to do their best... they've got this!
As we continue our journey into the Spring Semester, we ask that you keep the following important updates in mind:
- STAAR Information. Only 8th graders will test this week. Wednesday is 8th grade STAAR Science and Thursday is 8th grade STAAR Social Studies; Friday is make ups should a student be absent due to an emergency. Please ensure that your student(s) gets a full nights rest and is ready to test.
- 8th Grade Laptop Return - PAST DUE. 8th grade students need to return their laptops and chargers on Monday in preparation for the STAAR exam. Unreturned laptops range from $650.00 - $850.00 and unreturned chargers are $50.00 dollars. We will collect of 6th grade and 7th grade chargers at the end of the month.
- Progress Report 8 Grades Close This Week. Please review your student's Skyward account and make sure that all grades are passing (70 and above). We are encouraging students to strive for A's & B's as we know that our Hawks are more than capable of high academic success. Should you have a question or concern about your student's grade, please contact the classroom teacher.
- Attendance Matters! Each instructional day is filled with new material and additional opportunities for student growth. It is essential that we have our Hawk Scholars in attendance each and every day, for the entirety of the day. Please remember that Texas has a 90% rule that states that a student must be in attendance 90% of the time to receive credit for a course. Should an emergency or illness arise and your student must be out, please be sure to send a note to Ms. Katrina Taylor, CMMS Attendance Clerk, at Katrina.Taylor@fortbendisd.com, so that the absence can be excused.
- The first week back we reviewed our campus expectations to ensure our Hawks continue to be Hawk PROUD. Feel free to review the presentation with your student, and continue to encourage them to make good choices each and every day.
Let's continue to work together, and please do not hesitate to contact us should you have any questions or concerns. Remember, we are Hawk Nation... Hawk Proud!

Athletic Physicals for 2023-2024
Any student interested in playing sports next year must have a 2023-2024 physical on file. FBISD will be offering 2023-2024 Physicals at HOPSPON on May 3rd from 5-8pm.
- Physicals are $20 (cash only)
- CMMS will have buses for students who would like transportation.
- You must have both pages of the physical form and the Methodist Consent Form filled out to attend.
Mandatory Student IDs Are Here!
Students will be required to visibly display their Student ID badge, on the grade-level colored lanyard provided, around their neck, with the picture clearly visible. They are not allowed to deface the ID in anyway, or else they will need to purchase a new one. Students badges will provide access to the following services within the building:
- Cafeteria meal payments
- Library services
- Entrance to campus events (dances, PBIS events, etc.)
In the event that a student reports to school without his/her ID, they will receive a temporary wristband upon entry into the building. After receiving 3 temporary wristbands, students will be required to purchase a new badge for $5.00. ID fees can be paid via RevTrak.
Should you have any questions regarding ID badges, please contact Mr. Brandon Woodard, Assistant Principal, at Brandon.Woodard@fortbendisd.com.
Bring Your Laptops, Daily!
- Please ensure that your student(s) brings their laptop to school everyday (even when they say they don't need to).
- Please ensure that they charge it each night, and bring the charger with them to campus, in case the computer dies in one of their classes.
- If there is anything wrong with your student's laptop, have them report it immediately to Mr. Woodard (6th Grade Assistant Principal) or Ms. Nichols (Librarian).
