We are so excited to be starting another school year and to be in the building with our students full-time. Our students and staff have come together to create a positive learning environment right from the start.

As you may have heard from your student, Davis A&M has moved to a block period schedule. Students have 4-5 classes a day, depending on their grade level, and they are in each class for 80 minutes. Though we’ve made some changes, our dress code has stayed the same. You may have heard that CMSD changed its policy concerning dress code, themed schools, like Davis A&M, retained their dress code. The details about our Davis policy are below.

Join us this upcoming Thursday, August 19th from 6:00 - 8:00 PM, for our Davis A&M Open House. This event gives families an opportunity to tour the school, meet teachers, learn about our curriculum, and to ask questions. We look forward to seeing you there!

As Davis A&M continues to grow, so too does PHASTAR. We’re excited to introduce some new additions to our staff for the 2021-22 school year. They are:

Dr. Annemarie Grassi Amefia, our new Chief Operating Officer, will oversee all PHASTAR operations and programs. She joins us with over 20 years of nonprofit management, including serving as the founding President and CEO of Open Doors Academy, which provides comprehensive after-school programming for Cleveland area schools.

Capt. Jesse Kassbaum, our Director of Program Operations, recently retired from the U.S. Coast Guard after 20 years of active duty service. Jesse will be responsible for ensuring all PHASTAR assets (boats and planes) are properly maintained and inventoried, will be responsible for all organizational logistics and will oversee all safety protocol and regulatory compliance.

Tim Sisson, our Director of Programming, will oversee the Fabrication Lab in addition to all of our aerospace, maritime, and manufacturing/engineering programs that we offer for Davis. He brings a wealth of experience in the STEM and education fields, and will also oversee our thematic curriculum development.

Capt. Peter Hotchkiss, our Associate Director of Maritime Programs, has been a Captain on our Marine Safety boat for the past three years, and is joining us full-time to lead our maritime programs and curriculum. Peter is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the maritime division of PHASTAR. He will oversee the scheduling of maritime related programming, logistics and daily maritime activities.

Vitali Repin, our Certified Flight Instructor, will provide support for all of our Davis aerospace programs, including flight training, aviation club, and more.
