Reflection Corner

"Jesus said to his disciples: “To you who hear I say, love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you. To the person who strikes you on one cheek, offer the other one as well, and from the person who takes your cloak, do not withhold even your tunic. Give to everyone who asks of you, and from the one who takes what is yours do not demand it back. Do to others as you would have them do to you."

Jesus teaches his disciples to be merciful as God is merciful.

Jesus' words challenge those who would follow him to be more like God. God loves us beyond our expectations, beyond anything we can possibly imagine. In response to God's love, we are to love as God loves, beyond expectations and with a depth beyond imagining.

St. Ignatius of Loyola Prayer of Generosity

Eternal Word, only begotten Son of God,

Teach me true generosity.
Teach me to serve you as you deserve.
To give without counting the cost,
To fight heedless of wounds,
To labor without seeking rest,
To sacrifice myself without thought of any reward
Save the knowledge that I have done your will.
Amen.

OLM Moves to Trimester Reporting in 2019 - 2020

Beginning school year, 2019 - 2020, Our Lady of Mercy School will be moving from a quarter schedule to a trimester schedule. Trimesters are an advantageous means of dividing the school year that focuses more on learning and less on grading. Trimesters allow for more time at the beginning of the school year to build classroom community and routines.

A separate communication on trimester reporting will be sent to you shortly after this newsletter is sent out.
