COVID Update
Thanksgiving Week Schedule Change
November 18, 2021
Good afternoon, Otsego families,
Over the past few weeks we have experienced a significant increase in positive COVID-19 cases, health department quarantines, and other illnesses resulting in staff shortage issues across the entire district. Our positive case numbers so far this year have exceeded our total positive numbers of the 2020-21 school year.
As a result of these challenges, Otsego Public Schools will be closed all of next week, November 22-26. This will provide our staff and families a nine-day break which will provide an opportunity to clean our school buildings and a break for students and staff to get healthy. School will resume on Monday, November 29. Students do have school on Friday, November 19th.
Our BASE program will be open Monday/Tuesday at Dix Street Elementary and Learn ‘n Grow wrap-around services will also be open. Athletic practices and games are allowed to continue.
If your child is exhibiting any COVID-19 symptoms listed below please keep them home and get them tested to reduce the risk of any spread or outbreak. Those symptoms include:
- Fever or chills,
- Cough,
- Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing,
- Fatigue,
- Muscle or body aches,
- Headache,
- New loss of taste or smell,
- Sore throat,
- Congestion or runny nose,
- Nausea or vomiting, or
- Diarrhea
I would continue to ask you to report positive cases to our COVID-19 liaison. It is important to have this information to continue to monitor our numbers.
I hope all of you have a great Thanksgiving with your family and we are very thankful for your continued support.
Sincerely,
Jeffery S. Haase, Superintendent
