Softball Picks Up 10th Win of the Season

The Huskies traveled to UAB Monday night and defeated James Clemens 11-0. It was the first of two games in a college facility this week for Hewitt-Trussville. On Wednesday, the team will travel to Jacksonville State University for a match up with Pisgah.
In Monday's win over James Clemens, Kenleigh Cahalan and Jenna Lord both hit home runs. Both players drove in three runs on the night. Hannah Dorsett and Crystal Maze added two hits each. Kaitlyn Hughes picked up the win in the circle as she allowed just one hit over four innings of work.
Last weekend, the Huskies finished 2nd at Spain Park Jag Classic compiling a record of 5-1. HT scored a total of 42 runs on 51 hits. The team hit nine home runs and had a .418 batting average. The Husky pitchers allowed just eight earned runs in 26 innings.
Softball Appears in National Ranking

Hewitt-Trussville Softball checked in at #7 in the USA Today Softball Top 25 poll. HT is the highest ranked team from the state of Alabama on the list. Coach Taylor Burt's team won the schools' first Softball State Championship in 2019.

Baseball Beats IMG Academy; Bob Jones

Hewitt-Trussville Baseball finished 3rd over the weekend in the 2020 Perfect Game High School Showdown. During the event, the Huskies defeated IMG Academy and Bob Jones.
In the 7-1 win over IMG, Skylar Jones picked up the win on the mound. Jones pitched six strong innings and struck out six batters. Trey Burrell had three hits and scored three times. Gavin Ellison had two hits and an RBI. Hudson Boren and Tyler Mauldin also drove in a run.
The Huskies defeated Bob Jones 10-6 in a rematch from last year's state semifinal series. Austin King was the winning pitcher in relief. Hudson Boren had two hits and two runs batted in. Trey Burrell had a double and three RBI's. Matt Miller and Kahlin Drake had two hits each.
Girls Soccer Beats Mountain Brook to Open Area Play
Hewitt-Trussville Girls Soccer won their seventh straight game last Tuesday night as they defeated Mountain Brook 3-0. The Huskies are now 8-1 overall on the season and 1-0 in 7A Area 6 play. Kendall Sedran and the HT defense were sensational again as they completed another shutout performance. The Huskies have not allowed a goal since February 7.
Coach Lauren Wooten's squad struck early in the game when Lizzy Hurst scored off a serve from Taylor Doss. Later in the first half, Kaylee Rivas sent a corner kick into the box and it was headed in by Allison Kerins. The Huskies would score the final goal of the game in the second half when Lizzy Hurst scored her second goal of the night. Julia Farris picked up the assist.
Hewitt-Trussville will travel to Vestavia March 10 to meet the top-ranked Rebels.

Outdoor Track: Trussville 7-Way Recap
On Thursday March 5, Hewitt-Trussville Outdoor Track hosted the Trussville 7-Way meet. The HT Boys and HT Girls finished in 3rd place in the team standings. Here are some Husky highlights from the event:

Boys Tennis Finishes 2nd in Mobile
Boys Tennis had a 3-1 record this weekend and finished 2nd in the McGill Invite. The Huskies opened the event Friday with a 7-2 win over Resurrection (MS) and a 7-2 win over Gulf Breeze (FL). On Saturday, HT won their semifinal match 5-4 over Stone County (MS). In the finals, Coach Mike Higginbotham's team fell to Ocean Springs (MS) by the score of 6-3.
The Huskies will be back in action this week as they host Vestavia in a sectional match on Wednesday.
Football: Homecoming and Senior Night Dates Announced
Hewitt-Trussville High School will host the 2020 Homecoming game on October 2. Senior night will take place on October 23. HT Cheer will host their "Come Cheer With Us" event on August 28. Youth football night will be held October 16.

Student Athletic Pass Pickup Information
In an effort to increase our fan base and make game attendance more affordable, Student Athletic Passes will be available for the second time ever for the 2019-2020 school year. Every student in the district (K-12) will have the opportunity to have their own personalized athletic pass card. With this pass, students will be able to enter ALL HTMS and HTHS home regular season sporting events. The pass is $20 and can be purchased during registration as an item on the activity sheet.

Q. What is the purpose of the Student Athletic Pass?
A. The Student Athletic Pass will be available to ALL students in the district (K-12). Our goal is to make it easier and more affordable for students to attend Hewitt-Trussville sporting events.
Q. What can I attend with this pass?
A. Students that have their pass can enter ALL HTMS and HTHS home regular season sporting events. Every sport! For the entire 2019-2020 school year!
Q. How much does this pass cost?
A. The Student Athletic Pass is $20

A. Passes are available at all five TCS schools and can be purchased through registration
Q. Do students with a Student Athletic Pass still need to buy a ticket?
A. No. The Student Athletic Pass is good for admission to ALL HTMS and HTHS regular season home games. Tickets will need to be purchased for playoff games only.
MS Softball Wins Tournament
Hewitt-Trussville Middle School Softball had a perfect 5-0 record over the weekend as they won the Piedmont Invitational Tournament. The Huskies outscored their opponents 52-4 on the weekend and had a 49-8 advantage in hits. Amber Newman hit two home runs and Lexie Kelly also hit a home run.
MS Tennis Beats Berry
On March 3, the Middle School Tennis teams traveled to Berry. Both the HT Boys and the HT Girls picked up 8-1 wins. The Huskies will be back on the road Tuesday as they travel to Oak Mountain.

The Alabama High School Athletic Association (AHSAA) requires all student-athletes to complete eligibility paperwork each year. For the second year, this process will be done online rather than in paper copy. Any student, wishing to participate in athletics, that will be in grades 7-12 for the 2019-2020 school year will be required to complete this process. Please follow the instructions below to complete these forms for the 2019-2020 school year. Students’ forms for 2019-2020 need to be 100% complete as soon as possible. This is for AHSAA sanctioned sports only.
