BHS Update January 28, 2022

Dear Boonville Pirate Families:

Seeing students walk through our doors this week increased the energy at BHS! Our students did a fantastic job in the virtual environment, with over 94% logging in daily for their classes. This is much higher than many schools, so well done Pirates! Hopefully we will remain in person for the remainder of the school year.

As we enter into February we begin planning for next year and students begin thinking about the classes they will take in the future. Our school counselors do a great job of meeting with students regarding their academic paths and future career paths. These meetings take place in February. Consider asking your student about their interests and future career path. What courses might they need? What are their interests? Our hope is for each student to leave with a plan after high school to enter the work force, the military, trade or technical school, or college. We want our Pirates to be ready for anything!

If your student is a junior, it's a great time to get in an ACT test in the spring semester and to being the college search. The Common Application provides a one stop place for families to research different colleges/universities and to apply in one place to a variety of schools. The Common Application hosts roughly 900 schools across the country, including 25 here in Missouri! This website is a great place start discussions about college planning. www.commonapp.org

As always, we are here to help your student learn and grow. Please do not hesitate to reach out if we can help in any way.

Sincerely,

Ms. Fuemmeler

Allison Drummond Named BHS Nominee for Missouri Scholars Academy

Congratulations to BHS Sophomore Allison Drummond on being selected as the BHS nominee for Missouri Scholars' Academy. Competition included PSAT and ACT components, plus two essays.

Each year, BHS is able to nominate one sophomore student for the MO Scholars Academy (MSA).
