Tiger Telegram
10/23/2020
Dear Families,
I would like to let you all know three important things as we move through the second quarter.
- Firstly, we will be starting our afternoon tutoring program beginning on Monday next week. Tutoring will begin at 4:45 and end at 5:45 and will be held virtually. The schedule and sign up for tutoring is included here in the Telegram. Tutoring is in Math, ELA, and Science.
- Secondly, as we are moving closer towards the start of the second semester, we are beginning the process of starting master schedule planning for semester two. Beginning next week Wednesday, 10/28, if you want to make a change to your instructional model, you will need to contact the front office via phone. Any changes, from in-person to online or from online to in-person need to be confirmed with office staff. If no change is requested, students will stay in their current instructional model. Understand that this will be a semester long commitment. The window to request change is 10/28-11/16.
- Lastly, Parent Teacher conferences will be coming up soon. The dates for conferences are 11/18, 19, 20. All of these days will be early release days. Students will be dismissed at 2:10. Teachers will be able to schedule conferences beginning at 2:15. If you would like to schedule a virtual conference on one of these dates, please reach out to the teacher.
An additional thought: I want to compliment all of the students who have been following all safety protocols. I have been very impressed with the behavior of our students. I am hopeful that this behavior will continue. I hope you all have a good weekend! Thanks for reading the Tiger Telegram and as always, if you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to reach out.
Thank you,
Carlos Alvarado

DWMS Dance Class
Students are in full swing in Dance! Ms. Palm is teaching students the fundamentals and giving them the creative space to develop their own dance skills. Ms. Palm's Dance Class Mission Statement is: "Be Respectful, Never Give Up, Believe in Myself; and that's how WE will make progress in Dance Class and in our LIVES."
Currently, students are working on dances to Disney songs and here's what a few students had to say about dance:
- “My favorite thing about dance class is because I move freely and make up new moves. I listen to songs and I imagine all these new moves and I get the chance to make them real in dance class.” Isaiah
- “I like when I dance. It makes me feel free.” Maci
- “My favorite thing about dance class is learning techniques and skills and how to be an expressive dancer. I like how you can get your feelings out in dance.” Jordan
- “My favorite thing about dance is just that it’s fun!” Kennedy
Updates and Reminders
IMPORTANT REMINDER: In Person students MUST have their School ID with them each and every day. A lost or damaged ID costs $5 to replace.
IMPORTANT REMINDER: The cost to replace a broken computer screen is $50. Screens are often broken when students don't CLOSE their computers as they move from class to class and they accidently press their thumbs into the screens.
