Mrs. Smith, Ms. Unger, Mrs. Owens and Ms. Gonzales have implemented ZAP
(Zeros Aren’t Permitted)
One obstacle to academic success is the failure to complete assigned class work. Without a student’s completion of work, teachers have no way of knowing if the student learned the concept or not. The goal of the ZAP program is to provide support for students, promote responsibility and accountability, good study habits, and reinforce the value of hard work. With this in mind, students who do not turn in work will be placed into the ZAP program.
A student who is assigned ZAP did not turn in an assignment in class. When students are handed their ZAP slip, they will be required to call the parent/guardian to inform them of their missing assignment. The student will also make arrangements with their parent/guardian to stay after school that day or the following day. ZAP will be held Monday-Thursday with Mrs. Smith from 3:30-3:50. Students are NOT required to stay the entire time if the assignment(s) is/are completed. If the student needs to continue working on assignments past 3:50, they can transition over to CATS. CATS is held Monday-Thursday from 3:50-5:00 PM.
It is THE STUDENT’S responsibility to remember to attend ZAP.
If a student fails to attend ZAP to finish their assignment, it will then be a zero that WILL NOT be changed.
New after school program to focus on reading interventions.
