Lower School Weekly Announcements
November 16-20
THANKS for GIVING... always!
Thanksgiving is a time for honoring our Father,
To participate in worship and prayer.
A time to give thanks to the Lord,
For the cross He did bear.
Thanksgiving is a time for family and friends,
To hold those we love close.
A time to give thanks to the Lord,
For the people we cherish most.
Thanksgiving is a time for preparations,
To prepare our hearts for the birth of His Son.
A time to give thanks to the Lord,
For the Redeemer, the Savior, the Anointed One.

I Thessalonians 5:16-18
Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.
Thanksgiving Holidays - November 23-27; school resumes on November 30.
Operation Christmas Child - Nov. 16-20
Operation Christmas Child, or OCC, is Northlake’s annual ministry project. We partner with Franklin Graham’s Samaritan's Purse to experience bringing joy and hope to children in desperate situations. This simple hands-on outreach focuses on the true meaning of Christmas, Jesus Christ, God’s greatest gift of love.
November 16-20 is declared OCC National Collection Weeks where students are asked to bring in their shoe box donations that will be collected and delivered to Baton Rouge. The collection area is in the Lower School hallway just outside of Room 10.
For more information on the organization, directions and labels for packing shoeboxes, and a list of what can/cannot be included in the boxes, please visit the following website: http://www.samaritanspurse.org/what-we-do/operation-christmas-child/
Thank you for supporting this ministry project.
The King will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.’

Chapel - Nov. 19

1st Grade Character Day
Character Day has been an annual first grade tradition at Northlake Christian School for over 20 years. As first grader students move forward in progressing their new reading experiences, it is important that they view reading as fun and exciting. That's what Character Day reinforces.
The children each choose a book from a list of fairy tales, tall tales, fantasies, and fables, select a character from the book of their choice to dress as, and make presentations with parents and guests present. To begin the day, the children proudly parade around campus and through the hallways and then return to the classrooms where they present a 3-5 minute oral report. The benefits include but are not limited to developing in each child,
- A love for reading
- Public speaking skills
- Improved verbal communication skills including sentence formation, diction, punctuation, and articulation
- Increased vocabulary
- Creativity
- Self-confidence
- Positive self-esteem
- Planning experiences
- Information processing and organization of thoughts
It is a memorable experience! Here are some pictures from the day. Enjoy!

Girls of Grace After School Club
Over the past 8 weeks under the direction of Mrs. Roberts, 10 of our Lower School ladies have been involved in a new after school club called "Girls of Grace". They have been learning about etiquette, developing self-esteem, good manners, and a positive personal image. Each week they learned a new etiquette tip and talked about how to honor God in everything they do.
On Tuesday, November 10, they wrapped up their time together as they enjoyed a celebration tea where the girls were able to put on their fanciest attire, display their elegance & manners while having a wonderful time.
Speech Meet
The children who place the highest in the class meets will be selected to participate in our whole-school Speech Meet to be held on January 26-27. More information is TBA.

NCS Annual Fund
Dear Northlake families,
You should have received a mail-out recently asking you to contribute to Northlake Christian School's Annual Fund. I hope you had a chance to read over the material and gain a full understanding of what the annual fund entails. We recognize and appreciate the financial sacrifice families make to send their children to NCS, but please realize that tuition alone does not cover all of our needs, especially substantial improvements such as our new Middle School and the technology infrastructure needed to support our school-wide 1-1 iPad program. Please take a moment to watch THIS VIDEO created by our students which highlights these strategic initiatives. Our vision for Northlake has never wavered and that is "to integrate faith and learning to provide the best education and experience for your child so they can impact the world for Christ." You are helping us achieve that vision when you give or pledge to give to our annual fund. For more information about how the annual fund benefits your student, CLICK HERE.
Your support and prayers along with the faculty and staff are the heart of the ministry of NCS. Paul urges us in Philippians 4:6, "Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God." Please continue to pray for God to use Northlake mightily.
In closing, I ask you to prayerfully consider what you can give and where you can serve. You can go to the school website under "Giving" to donate online or you can mail in the envelope from the annual fund brochure. There is no gift too big or too small to make an eternal difference in the lives of the children that NCS serves. Thank you always for your support, and let us continue to give God the glory for all He has done and will continue to do at Northlake Christian School.
For His Glory,
Monty Fontenot
