Nurses News for March 2017
We are looking for gently used shorts and pants with an elastic waist to replenish our clinic clothes closet! Any donations will be greatly appreciated.
March will also begin the maturation/puberty sessions for 3rd grade girls and their parent, as well as, the 4th and 5th grade boys and girls.
More information on the link above. You will receive permission forms which you must return for your student to participate in the program.
Please call T.H.E. for any questions.
On Another Note
With warmer temperatures, head lice can become more prevalent. Lice can be transmitted by direct contact with someone who has lice. Avoiding exposure is the best way to prevent getting lice. Avoid head to head contact, do not share combs, brushes, hats, caps, hair ribbons, coats, or towels.
In an effort to control any lice outbreaks at T.H.E.,
Treat your student with appropriate topical medicine only if you see live lice. (Contact the school clinic, your doctor, or pharmacist for questions).
Thoroughly comb the hair with a fine tooth comb after treating it to remove as many nits (eggs) as possible.
Discuss with your student how head lice is spread and discourage them from sharing personal items with others.
Prompt and proper treatment of lice will help prevent the spread of, and exposure to, all who come to or attend T.H.E. Campus. Anyone can get head lice.
Thank you for your support! Please call the school clinic if you have any concerns or questions about your student’s health and wellness! (210-407-8221 or 210-407-8203).

NEISD Used Book Sale Collection - Clean out your bookshelves for a great event! We will be collecting gently used books, CDs, and DVDs from March 1-31. A collection box will be available in the inside foyer of the school. Please remember to fill out the tags from the flyer (available on the PTA website) that was sent home and tape it to each of your bags/boxes of books.
Each child who donates 10 books to the Used Book Sale will receive a spirit stick and the top 20 students with the largest donations will receive a gift card to the next Scholastic Book Fair!
Our school receives a portion of the sales so please consider supporting the sale and our school! The Used Book Sale will be held April 7-9 at the Blossom Athletic Center gym. More info is available on the PTA website. It’s a great way to stock your shelves with your favorite books. Please contact our Used Book Sale chair at booksale@tuscanyheightspta.org with any questions.
Run For The Heights – What a wonderful event we had this year. Despite the forecast, the rain held out long enough for both the 5K and the first ever color fun run to be a smashing success! In total, we had 686 participants registered for the 5K and 365 registered for the Fun Run! That is our highest Fun Run total ever!! Way to go Tigers!!
Final results can be found on the Run for the Heights page or by clicking this link: http://www.iruntexas.net/Results/2017/Heights/HeightsMenu.htm
We had great participation from THE students and staff! This year’s top boy and girl student finishers were:
K— Augustus Thompson
1— Madelyn Colville and David Henke
2— Joslyn Johnson and Zachary Hudson
3— Emily Salm and Kai McCullough
4— Regina Herrera and Luke Vasquez
5— Emma Colville and Roman Sylvas
We had many staff compete for the coveted title of Top Staff finisher! This year, the honor goes to: Mrs. Luna!
Thank you again to all of the staff, sponsors, students, parents, and volunteers for making this another successful event! We are so fortunate to have a community that supports our school year after year. Please pick up unclaimed awards and guaranteed shirts and swag bags in the school’s office.
Warmer weather = Overflowing Lost and Found
Parents, as the weather warms up we find lots of sweaters and jackets around the school with no name on them – they end up in lost and found and it is OVERflowing! Help us out by checking closets and then sending your students on a mission to find what is lost and bring it home! ALL items will be donated to the NEISD Clothes Closet at the end of the semester.
5th grade students – 5th grade spirit is popping up all over campus. Don’t forget to show off your 5th grade spirit shirt on WILD Wednesday!
PTA Elections - It's time to begin the process of filling the Tuscany Heights PTA Officer positions for the 2017-2018 school year, and we need YOU! Descriptions of each position are detailed in the survey on tuscanyheightspta.org. Email the completed survey to Rachel Crites at rfcrites@gmail.com or return it to the front office in a sealed envelope labeled "PTA Officer Nomination" on or before Monday, March 20th.
