The world of quilting can be a confusing maze to a beginner. With lots of different options for equipment, patterns, fabric, tools and other resources where does a novice begin? Avid quilter and owner of Heartland Quilt Shop, Pat Lucas, will explain it all, leaving participants ready to start sewing.

Quilts of Caring
10:00 - 11:00 am -- Every year dozens of quilts are donated to individuals in need through area churches, the Crisis Center, and the Care Team. Learn more about how these quilts are made, the people behind this caring initiative, and the impact one quilt can have on a life.
The Art of Fabric Design & Quilting Today
2:00 - 3:00 pm -- Pat Lucas and Faye Kuhlmann will describe the process that noted quilt fabric designer Sandy Gervais uses when creating her designs using samples of Gervais’s work to illustrate. They will also discuss the state of quilting today and some recent changes to the industry.
A Family Quilt Celebration
6:00 - 7:30 pm -- The evening program is especially for children and entire families. Pat Lucas will present her original story “I Have a Quilt That Grandma Made”. Algona Public Library Children’s Librarian, Amanda Pilgrim, will conduct a quilt themed storytime and lead families in a fun quilting craft that children can take home when completed.
