Gaines for Brains
The Pre-med Scholars Program at CNU is again raising money for the National Brain Tumor Society. Christopher Newport University lost two valuable members of our campus to brain cancer in 2013, CJ Woollum and Dr. Edward Weiss. We would like to recognize CJ Woollum’s commitment to the University and his immeasurable contributions during his tenure as the basketball coach and the athletic director. We would also like to honor the service and dedication that one of our much-loved and respected Professors, Dr. Edward Weiss, gave to CNU in both his tenure as a professor of botany and as the director of the Organismal and Environmental Biology Department of the College of Natural and Behavioral Sciences. It is our goal to raise awareness of the impact of the disease as well as the need for brain cancer research.
We are collecting donations and invite you to join our 3rd annual benefit concert, “Gaines for Brains,” which will be held on Friday February 13, 2015 from 7:00pm-9:30pm in the Gaines Theatre. Tickets will be $4 at the door or $3 if you buy them in advance.

Call for papers!
The Mid-Atlantic Leadership Review (MLR) is a primarily online, peer-reviewed leadership studies journal based at Christopher Newport University. Its focus is to publish high-quality undergraduate research articles written by students or co-authored with faculty, as well as articles beyond the undergraduate level written by graduate students, faculty, and leadership practitioners. The MLR provides undergraduate students a great way to familiarize themselves with the publication process, develop a publication record, and act as a forum for collaborative faculty-student-practitioner undergraduate research. For the Summer 2015 issue we welcome research-based leadership papers that cover a wide range of topics. Please see the attached document for more information.

We are moving into uncharted waters for this week’s Crush! Musical Artists month has been going off with a bang, and we thank you for your eagerness to vote and multiple suggestions. As we have stated every week, the wall is becoming magnificent. If you haven’t come up to the Fellows office and checked it out yet, then I think it might be time to reevaluate some life choices. This week is a female’s week, and we are digging deep into our Virginian roots. This week is all about popular female Country Crushes! We hope you take your vote this week seriously, as we believe this is going to be a tough one.
Remember, if you have any suggestions for male or female crushes/different themes for each month feel free to email Zach at zachary.walseman@cnu.edu with your ideas!
Just follow the link below to pick the winner for this week!
