School Leadership Team Meeting (Tuesday, Oct. 10th)
On Tuesday, October 10th we will have our October school leadership team meeting from 5:00-6:00pm in the media center. Please join us to learn more about our school improvement plan and the initiatives that are being planned to help our school meet our instructional goals for the year.
Spartan Time Journal Writing Prompt (Wednesday)
(Teachers, you will have to provide background information on the 2nd Amendment. Many of our scholars may not know what it is and why it's in our Constitution).
Curriculum Night (Thursday, Oct. 12th 5:30-7:30)
We will have our first scholar-led curriculum night of the year on Thursday, October 12th from 5:30-7:30pm. Scholars will lead presentations to parents about the upcoming fall science fair, class assignments that have been completed during the quarter, plus much more. Curriculum night festivities will be held in the cafeteria and parents will be able to visit teachers’ displays during our home football game. All teachers are expected to be in attendance at curriculum night. The event has been on our master calendar since August 16th. Teachers will have additional time to plan and prepare for presentations during Monday's grade level planning meetings.

SMS Athletics Update
Our fall sports season continues this week. Monday our volleyball team travels to Waddell Academy. Wednesday our volleyball team will host McClintock Middle School. Thursday our football team will have a home game against our cross town rivals, MLK Jr. Middle School. Games begin at 5:00pm. Please come out and support our scholar athletes as they demonstrate sportsmanship, teamwork and athletic excellence on the court and field this week.
