Message from Pathfinder Principal, Miss Boze
A huge thanks to each of you who were able to support our Fun Run fundraiser. Pathfinder students raised an amazing $13,361.14! Top “entrepreneurs” for each pod were Nicole Gomez-Ruelas (Ladybug), Ezra Dittmer (Bumblebee), Amelia Doole (Grasshopper), and our top fund raiser for the school, Cassie Nguyen (Caterpillar) who brought in $500.
It was amazing to watch the stamina of kindergarten kids as they ran around the Fairmount sand field for 30 minutes. “Athlete” awards for the most laps went to Tre Wells and Bennett Ogden (Bumblebee pod tie), S.J. Stueckle (Grasshopper), Vladimir Fomin and Issa Leon (Ladybug tie), and with 38 laps, our top Pathfinder runner, Azeneth Reyes Rodriguez (Caterpillar).
Our plan was to use a portion of the funds for a field day “bouncy house” but the district is following a new recommendation from our insurance pool and decided to ban bouncy house toys. Instead, we purchased a snow cone machine and students will receive an icy treat and popcorn after a puff ball snowball fight in the gym. Kids will also enjoy temporary tattoos, the climbing wall, and a wide variety of active outdoor games and fun. Please be sure your child wears socks and shoes that will be safe for running and jumping, along with comfortable clothes like shorts and tee-shirts. Tee-shirts that cover the shoulders are a better option than tank tops as sleeves will help avoid sunburns.
Children will be outside for one hour for their field day event as well as for their usual recess times and a picnic lunch. Please apply sunscreen at home and send sunscreen if your child needs this protection. We can help apply sunscreen, but we are not allowed to supply sun protection products unless they are sent to school by parents or guardians.
Thanks to our specialists, Mrs. Bovee, Mrs. Crosby, Mrs. Holloway, and Ms. Johnson, for organizing our field day event.
Thanks, and farewell to Pathfinder staff members who will be moving on to new adventures in the fall: Student teachers: Hailey Mukai and Sejeong Ji
Paraeducators: Bill Davis, Stacie Haworth, Margo Saweres, Nick Adair, Alysha Best and Debbie Cleland
Principal: Cheryl Boze
School Psychologist: Rachel Reed
Support Teacher: Lyndsey Freise
Classroom Teachers: Eleana Evans, Laura Hale, Michelle Kourouma, Elmien Springer, Michelle Ratliff, Keshia Harvey, Megan Hubner-Cooley, and Cathy Takayoshi
We will miss you!
Thanks to You!
It has been a wonderful year for students and staff at Pathfinder. We have enjoyed watching children grow physically as well as in their confidence, character, and academic skills over the course of the year. It has been a privilege and honor to serve our students and Pathfinder families. We wish you all the very best as children begin the next stage of their educational journey!
Please Look for Library Books!
Children have enjoyed checking out books from our Pathfinder Library but now it’s time to reinforce the importance of responsibility and make sure that ALL BOOKS ARE RETURNED to the library.
If your child still has a book checked out, he or she should have brought home a book fine slip with the book’s title and cost of the book. Please help your child look for the book and return the book to school right away. If you and your child are unable to find the book, please send cash or a check made payable to Pathfinder Kindergarten Center to pay the cost of the book listed on the fine form. We would much rather receive the book but if that’s not possible, we will use money collected to buy new copies of books. It’s important to maintain our wonderful collection so that other children will be able to enjoy the books in future years.
Students who ordered yearbooks will receive their copy next week. If your child was not enrolled when yearbook orders were taken (or if you changed your mind and would like to purchase one now) a limited number of extra copies will be available to purchase for $16.00 – first come, first served – CASH ONLY – EXACT CHANGE PLEASE!
If you are not sure if you pre-ordered a yearbook, you may find out by emailing KIDS Photography at KIDSphoto@comcast.net.
