We Survived the First Full Week!
Volunteering & Field Trip Chaperones, what to know before you Go!
Do you plan to volunteer in our school, classrooms, or chaperone a field trip this year? Seattle School District requires all volunteers to be fully approved prior to starting your volunteer service or attending any Field Trips. To start the application or learn more about Seattle School District's volunteering process, click here! Please note that volunteers should complete a "Category A" volunteer application.
All previously approved volunteers from the 2022-2023 school year are approved for the 2023-2024 school year. If you did not complete an application last year, you MUST do so this year.
Volunteer applications can take up to two (2) weeks to process. If you are planning to attend a field trip, Settle Public School Risk Management requires that field trip chaperones be selected at least four (4) weeks before a full-day field trip and eight (8) weeks before an overnight field trip.
If you would like to check your status or standing, please reach out to Romelle Bradford or Robb Valentine at any time. Adhering to our volunteer requirements process keeps our students and school community safe! We look forward to seeing every parent volunteer in whatever capacity they are able to!

COVID-19 and Other Respiratory Illnesses
I think we have all noticed the uptick in our families and friends getting sick. Seattle Public Schools has updated their website with information regarding Covid 19 and Other Respiratory Illnesses. I hope you find this flow chart helpful in the event your child starts to develop symptoms of Illnesses.

Afternoon Pickups!
For those of you with Children who are in grades 1st - 5th, we ask that you pick your children up on the upper playfield only. For safety reasons, we are asking that no one be picked up on the lower playground area any longer. We appreciate your understanding.
Winter Parkour Classes!
Another after school program at Jefferson Park is Parkour Visons. Weekly Classes Monday - Friday Ages 6 - 18. Click here for more information!
FREE UNIVERSAL BREAKFAST & LUNCH for all students of BHIS!!
We have made the list for universal free breakfast and lunch this year! This was based on the state’s criteria in House Bill 1238 (HB1238), an amazing bill that will help a lot of our BHIS families. I believe BHIS was the only school in the entire district eligible for this amazing gift! If you have money on your accounts, that money can roll over to next year or you can receive a refund. If you would like a refund, please email Jodi Thomas at jlthomas@seattleschools.org
