Gifted & Talented
November 2021
November Activities
November is Indigenous Heritage Month. We will incorporate social studies, literacy, and math into Project Based Learning activities. Students will create a Thanksgiving meal and budget using recipe cards, shopping advertisements, and budgeting sheets. We will study literature connected to historically accurate events of the first Thanksgiving, along with Native American Folktales that ties into their ELAR classrooms. We will create art pieces to support the literature pieces as well. Every week, my goal is to extend what students are learning in class and provide them opportunities to show their knowledge in creative ways.
GT Photo Permission forms
I have not received all of the permission slips. Please make sure you sign the form so that your child's name and work can be released through Taylor ISD communication. Thank you!
October Review
The students had a blast with many engaging and innovative activities during the month of October! Students created a Google Slide to expand their knowledge on text and graphic features using Informational Texts over energy and electrical circuits. Then they designed and tested their own circuits, which they documented with pictures they added to their Google Slide. We read Iqbal and His Ingenious Idea to learn about Bangladesh real life problem-solving skills by designing, creating, and testing a solar oven to cook s'mores. We ended October with testing the solar ovens, observing a chemical reaction using an acid and a base (vinegar and baking soda), and discussing other examples of chemical reactions.
