The Principal's Den- from One Cool Cat to Another
Benchmarks - IStation, DRA, & AIMSWeb data will be discussed during our scheduled Data Talks on January 24 & 25. We will meet in our Data Room so that you can MOVE THOSE CLIPS on our Reading Level wall, add more dots to our AIMSWeb posters and add more data to the IStation posters. I'm excited to see how much your students have grown!
Grade Level Assessments (Formative & Summative) - Whether you have district common assessments to give or you have created an assessment with your team, you should also be tracking how students are doing on each grade level TEKS. Our goal is to work together to create a system of tracking student TEKS. Tammy and I created one document as a starter. I am excited to hear the conversations going on about other ideas too and want to incorporate them so that whatever we used is the best tool for all.
UNT Student Teachers
Students from the University of North Texas will begin interning at SVES beginning on Wednesday, Jan. 18. They have been asked to follow teacher work hours on the Wednesdays and Thursdays they are with our mentor teachers. Congratulations to Gina, Amanda and Kelly. They will each have a student teacher in their rooms during the first rotation. The first rotation is from January 18 - March 3.
- Meghan Hitchcock will be with Gina Smith
- Megan Popson will be with Amanda Self
- Sarah Smith will be with Kelly Kaczmarski
ALL UNT student teachers are meeting in one of our classrooms in the Kinder hall on Mondays and Tuesdays for classes with their UNT professor. They will start this class on Jan. 17. The second rotation is March 6-April 28 (No classes during Spring Break.) During the second rotation, the classes will continue every Monday & Tuesday but we will not have any student interns in classrooms during the 2nd rotation on Wednesdays & Thursdays. They have been assigned to other KISD teachers in the district.
These student teachers will come through the front office on the 17th to meet the office staff. They will have a KISD badge and should not need to sign in at the front each time. They will also be emailing an introduction to their first mentor before arriving on campus. Gina, Amanda & Kelly, you should have or will be receiving information from Susan Padgett on how to best work with your student interns.
