The 2019 D.U. Lead Club Advisors

Meet the Advisors & Coordinators bringing D.U. Lead to you!

What is D.U. Lead?

D.U. Lead is an intensive weekend institute for emerging leaders in the Denison community. Limited to a select number of first-year students, the D.U. Lead institute aims to address and develop a variety of leadership skills.

D.U. Lead is about leading with integrity and “Making Your Mark” within the Denison Community to create and sustain positive change. D.U. Lead participants participate in fun, interactive activities and simulations in a lively, upbeat environment. The social change model of leadership development is the theoretical basis for this Institute. Participants work closely with 8-10 peers in small groups called “clubs.” Participants will be mentored by junior/senior students who serve as club facilitators.

Allen Primack

Hey everyone! I’m Allen, and I’m a junior here at Denison from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, double-majoring in global commerce and data analytics, with a double-minor in economics and Spanish! I’m so excited to be returning to D.U. Lead for the third straight year! As a first year student, I was fortunate enough to be a participant and I got a great deal out of my experience, and last year, I served as a co-coordinator. I’m thrilled to be at D.U. Lead this year as a club advisor, and I can’t wait to get to know you, while ensuring that this will be a fun and fulfilling weekend for you, as it was for myself and so many other past participants! Outside of the classroom, I serve as a leadership fellow, a community advisor, a Hillel board member, a member of the ultimate frisbee team, a red corps fellow, was involved with DCGA (our student government), and I’ll be starting a brand new global commerce student organization on campus! If you’re interested in any of these things, or have any other questions about life on the Hill, feel free to reach out, and I’d love to see you at D.U. Lead this September!

Fatima Haroon

Hello and welcome to D.U lead! My name is Fatima and I a junior here at Denison, majoring in Data Analytics. I am from Pakistan and fun fact, I come from a city where the weather stays the same for at least a decade and snow is about as far fetched a concept as constant weather in Ohio is haha! But I love being from a very different place than here in Granville because it allows me to grow adaptable and be more appreciative of both what's familiar and unfamiliar to me. D.U lead allowed me to practice and hone that very skill and I cannot wait to get to know you all and help you in your journeys as well.

Dana Phillips

Hi! I'm Dana. I'm a junior Women's and Gender Studies and International Studies double major from Atlanta, GA. As well as being a Leadership Fellow, I'm also a Senior Interviewer and a Writing Center Consultant. I love music, movies, Steampunk and traveling. I'm so excited to meet everyone!

Anne Chambers

I am Annie Chambers, and I am from Coudersport, PA. I am currently a junior, and I am very involved in club sports, and I spend a lot of my time volunteering. I am a History and Education major.

Michaela Morrison

Hi there! I am a Junior, double majoring in Global Commerce and Spanish, with a concentration in Latin American and Caribbean Studies. I am a member of the Varsity Swim & Dive Team, specializing in the Individual Medley and Sprints. I studied abroad in Costa Rica this past summer, where I worked with a organization called La Casa de los Niños, serving an underprivileged neighborhood in the San José hills. We provided after-school programs, extracurricular activities, psychological support, and a meal program for the children and families in need.

Jack Reaney

My name is Jack Reaney ‘21, and I’ll be your sensei! My favorite food is eggs scrambled with chicken—just try it.

As a student, I’m vigorously committed to my academics. But as a Denisonian, I’m a dedicated leader in one cause: social revolution. I believe in a better tomorrow for Denison, and I’m not alone in my quest for a truly unified, fun-loving student body. I’m pumped to keep working toward positive change over the next two years here.

Mohamed El Sayed

My name is Mohamed El Sayed. I'm an international student from Cairo, Egypt. I major in Biology and I'm doing the Pre-Med track. I love playing soccer, volleyball, and working out.

Lari Jacobs

Hi, Class of 2023! My name is Lariona Jacobs, you can call me Lari, and I am a current Senior from Boston, Massachusetts. I came here on the POSSE Scholarship. My majors are Anthropology/Sociology and Communication and I hope to attend Law School next fall! I participated in D.U. Lead my first-year at Denison and I hope you enjoy your experience as did I!

Cecil Millen

I am a Spanish and International Studies major with a Cinema Minor tacked on. Fun fact: I have been robbed on 3 continents now, the most recent one being South America during my time studying abroad in Valparaiso, Chile. My interests include exploration of The Great Outdoors, dipping foods into sauces, and chilling. On campus I work at Off-Campus Study, I am the president of Denison Presbys, and I am an active member of DFS, The Doobie, Jam Band Club, and a couple other things. I do all of this addition to being a all-around lover and a great friend.

Gabriela Perez

Hi emerging Denison Leaders! My name is Gabriela Perez, like the main character from High School Musical. I am a Senior, double major in Global Commerce and East Asian Studies. I was born and raised in the Southwest side of Chicago, Illinois (real Chicago). I am Mexican-American and first-generation college student and I love giving to back to that community. Since my sophomore year, I've had the privilege to be involved in La Fuerza Latina and currently I have been elected as President for the organization. I've also had the honor to work in the Financial Aid Office and the Global Commerce Program as the Student Assistant since my first-year. With that being said, you can make your mark here on the Hill in any shape or form! Sí, se puede!

Mayank Kumar

Hi! My name is Mayank Kumar, and I am a rising junior from Calcutta, India. I'm majoring in Political Science and minoring in Religion. On campus, I'm involved with student governance, the international students association, and greek life among other things. If I'm not enjoying a frozen hot chocolate at the Slayter Pit, you can find me in the library crying about my homework. Some things I enjoy doing include traveling, watching old Hollywood movies, and listening to sad indie music. DU Lead was so impactful for me and helped shape my Denison experience in so many ways. I am so excited to to be a DU Lead Club advisor and get to know you first years!

Ward Anderson

My name is Ward Anderson, I’m a rising Junior at Denison studying Data Analytics with a concentration in Psychology, and am from Alexandria, Virginia. Outside of school, I love sports and trying new foods. My sports teams are: Atlético de Madrid for La Liga, West Ham for the EPL, Wizards for the NBA, and Capitals for the NHL. Since there is so much great food out there, it’s hard to choose a favorite. However, my favorite sauces are Sriracha and Pesto. I’m super excited to serve as a D.U. Lead Club advisor and look forward to meeting all of you!

Grace Klein

Hi everyone! My name Grace Klein and I am a sophomore from a super small town in Northeast Ohio called Edinburg (it's fine, nobody else knows what it is either). I'm a double major in Education and History and am involved in Club Volleyball, Denison Feminists, & Leadership Fellows here on campus. If I'm not immersed in homework or a show on Food Network, you can probably find me cheering on the Cavs, calling my mom, or eating too many cookies in Slayter. I'm so excited to be a D.U. Lead Co-Coordinator after having a great experience in the program myself and I can't wait to meet all of you!
