Reptile Review

August 1st, 2023

Welcome Back!

This summer has gone by fast, and we hope everyone has had a safe and enjoyable one. We have been working hard this summer to prepare for a great school year. Our theme for the year is "Plant Positivity, Grow Greatness." Every day we will work to ensure that every student and staff member, learns in a positive atmosphere where they can grow to reach their highest potential.

Our school community is experiencing a lot of growth as well. We have added an additional class in every grade level this year and will have many new faces around campus.

We can't wait to see all of our Reptiles at Meet the Teacher day! This is a great day to meet your child's teacher, drop off school supplies, and arrange transportation. Before this day, you can log onto your Parent Portal to complete your emergency card and make your Parent Bill of Rights choices. You may see a teacher in your parent portal, there may be changes to these up until Meet the Teacher Day. Students will find out their official teacher's on August 7th. Meet the Teacher is from 10:00am - 4:00pm on Monday, August 7th. You can stop up anytime between those hours.

We look forward to a great school year with lots of growth. Please reach out if you have any questions or concerns.

School Hours

10:10am- 4:20pm

Students are released back to class at 9:50am

Tardy Bell rings at 10:10am

Dismissal 4:20pm

First Day of School

The first day of school is August 10th. Parents are allowed to walk their child back to class on the first day only. If you need support, our staff will be wearing our school spirit shirts!

Dismissal

Please bear with us the first two weeks of school as we work through dismissal. For our bus riders, every tag must be checked prior to students entering the bus. Once buses are loaded, we will dismiss them. As for car riders, we usually have a larger than normal line for all those students waiting for bus to start. We will get your child out to you as soon as possible. Please make sure you have your car tag displayed to make car riders run smoother.

Please make sure your child's teacher knows how your child is getting home. If there are any changes to dismissal, please contact the office prior to 3:30pm.

Parent Portal

It is very important that you have access to your child's Parent Portal. This is where you will be able to view your child's Progress Reports and Report Cards, test results, and bus passes.

Please also make sure that you have completed your child's Parent Bill of Rights, which can be accessed through the Parent Portal. It is important that parents acknowledge and declare in writing whether they want their student to participate in various educational opportunities and related activities, and whether their students may be provided healthcare and other services available to them.

You can find more information about the Parent Bill of Rights and the Parent Portal at the following website: https://www.pasco.k12.fl.us/oll_documents/parent-bill-of-rights.If you need help creating or logging in to your account, please call our front office at 813-346-0500.

Student Fees

All student fees will be paid via the RYCOR system. You will also use RYCOR to purchase school T-shirts and the Birthday Marquee.

Bus Call Center

The Transportation Call Center will be open August 4th - August 9th from 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. to answer questions about bus stops and bus passes. Their number is 813-794-2500.

The call center will also be open from August 10th - August 18th from 6:30 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. to answer questions. If you have a question about your child's bus or what time it will be arriving, please call the Transportation Call Center. Our front office also has to call the Transportation Call Center to answer family's questions, so calling this number directly will be the quickest and easiest way to get information.

Attendance

Attendance is very important to student's progress! Our school will be monitoring student attendance and will be reaching out to families if students have more than 5 unexcused absences a quarter.

If your child will have an extended absence, please communicate directly with his or her teacher. Please also fill out the attendance link on New River Elementary's website any time your child will be absent. This is also how you can upload doctor's notes for excused absences.
