October is College Application Month for Seniors!
Students will work on college applications this month in their Senior Transitions class, with Mrs. Diefenthaler, and with Mary Stanley, College and Career Navigator.
In addition, the FAFSA Application has now opened. Students will work on their FAFSA applications throughout the month.

Fall Assessments
Please review these important testing reminders:
Testing will begin promptly by 8 AM. We would like to provide some important tips and reminders to help promote success for your student:
Students should arrive on time to school and be sure to get a good night sleep prior to test day.
Students need to bring an APPROVED calculator with them for the testing process. They are permitted to bring an APPROVED backup calculator and/or extra batteries. They MAY NOT share calculators with any other student. The school does have calculators for use if checked out before testing day. If your child needs to check out a calculator, please have them do so by October 15th for 10th and 11th grade and October 22 for 8th and 9th grade.
Students MAY NOT have ANY type of electronic device during testing. This includes any type of fitness watch, smart watch, or recording/communication device. Students MUST leave these devices at home or place them in their lockers for the entire testing process. Devices WILL NOT be permitted for use during breaks.
The school will supply No. 2 pencils for every student. Students are only permitted to bring the following item with them to their testing room:

Following testing on each day, students will resume their regularly scheduled school day. Seniors will not be testing during this time. Grades not testing will have a normal academic schedule.

There will be a Canned Food Drive for 9th-12th grade October 7th-11th. Donations will help benefit the Crop Walk.

Academic Help for Students
Junior High After School Homework Help-Begins Tuesday, October 8th. It will be held every Tuesday and Thursday until 3:45PM in Mrs. Eastman's room. (There will NOT be after school on Thursday, October 10th due to conferences.)
High School After School Math Help-Every Tuesday
Please check in with teachers for additional times to receive extra help.
Saturday School Session-We will hold these sessions monthly from 8 AM-11 AM. Please contact the high school office if you would like your student to attend. Teaching staff will be available for support at each session.
Credit Recovery-8th hour will begin at the end of October. Please see Mrs. Diefenthaler to sign up.

Saturday School Sessions for the Year
Columbia Central will provide high school and junior high students the opportunity to attend Saturday School sessions to make up work for classes. There will be staff available to support students and to ensure a quiet learning environment. The dates and times for Saturday School are listed below. If your child is failing a class or struggling with missing assignments, please encourage them to attend. Students planning to attend must RSVP to the office and collect their assignment to work on the Friday before the planned session.

Trunk or Treat-Sunday, October 27, 3-5PM

Junior High News
Challenge Day is coming up quickly for 7th grade students that were invited to go. Permission slips can be turned in Monday if your student has not turned one in already. Please call Mrs. Hall or Mrs. Caryl with questions.
After school academic assistance begins next week for all interested JH students. It will run from 2:45 pm-3:45 pm in Mrs. Eastman's room. Sign up is not necessary.
