What We Do
Working for the rights of children to play
York Playspace, where every child matters, is an innovative organisation, supported by experienced, qualified professionals. We are committed to valuing children, families and communities and have operated successfully for over 35 years. We deliver a range of services and structured activities for children and young people aged 0-18, that aim to promote learning and the development of life skills through play.
Play schemes and activities
We deliver a range of activities for children and young which include:
- 'Chill-out zones', similar to youth clubs
- Summer play schemes
- Play Buddies - a project which enables children and young people with a disability to participate in mainstream leisure activities with the support of a 'Play Buddy'
Play Training
York Playspace delivers specialist Play training endorsed by Skills Active to volunteers, staff and external agencies working with children and young people. Modules offered include:
- Play
- Risky Play
- Child Protection
- First Aid.
Supporting Play Volunteers
York Playspace offer a variety of volunteering opportunities for people of all ages and backgrounds. Whether you are looking for a new working experience, would like to expand your skills, want to meet like-minded people or simply enjoy giving back to the community, we would love to hear from you.
