UOI #4 Where We Are In Place and Time
An inquiry into orientation in place and time; personal histories; homes and journeys; the discoveries, explorations, and migrations of humankind; the relationships between and the interconnectedness of individuals and civilizations, from local and global perspectives.
Central idea: Migration influences natives and immigrants of a land.
Key concepts: Causation, Perspective, Change

What Have We Learned So Far?
Math
We also learned about equivalent fractions using tape diagrams and area models. After understanding the concept of fractional equivalence using visual models, we learned how to find equivalent fractions using multiplication and division. We then put equivalent fractions on a number line. Treating fractions as numbers will help us starting in the next UOI, when we will be comparing and ordering fractions.

- Students have been learning about migration and the reasons behind it. They also learned how to interview someone and ask them about the name, origin, and the reason for moving.

Qur'an:
- Students read & understand the verse number 40 from Surat At-Tawba which describing the feeling of prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and his friend Abubakr in the cave of Hiraa:
- إِلَّا تَنصُرُوهُ فَقَدْ نَصَرَهُ اللَّهُ إِذْ أَخْرَجَهُ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا ثَانِيَ اثْنَيْنِ إِذْ هُمَا فِي الْغَارِ إِذْ يَقُولُ لِصَاحِبِهِ لَا تَحْزَنْ إِنَّ اللَّهَ مَعَنَا ۖ فَأَنزَلَ اللَّهُ سَكِينَتَهُ عَلَيْهِ وَأَيَّدَهُ بِجُنُودٍ لَّمْ تَرَوْهَا وَجَعَلَ كَلِمَةَ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا السُّفْلَىٰ ۗ وَكَلِمَةُ اللَّهِ هِيَ الْعُلْيَا ۗ وَاللَّهُ عَزِيزٌ حَكِيمٌ
- Also, they are working on the memorization based on the levels of the groups.
Islamic Studies:
- In Islamic studies, Students have been learning about the life of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) from leaving Mekkah until his arriving Madinah and the brotherhood between the Muhajireen and Ansaar.
- Students started working on their summative with enthusiasm and they showing their hard working and demonstrating their understanding of the concept of migration.

Art
Creative art project about migration
Individually they choose one or two feelings they wanted to creatively express and started to sketch ideas in their sketchbooks. They used their devices for inspiration and to find references to create the elements necessary for their art and they decided about the art materials needed. They discussed their ideas and art materials list with the teacher.
Finally, students started producing their final art pieces using their chosen art materials such as paint on canvas, or sharpies on poster paper, or collage on cardboard etc.
The students went through the creative process and used their creativity to express their ideas and feelings.
