#1. The oil industry
This picture diaries the oil industry at the time, and how there is a monopoly with one man (Rockefeller) controlling the White House with his oil. At this time period people thought that they could use standard oil for all there oil needs, this is why Rockefeller had so much control.
This picture shows men hard at work mining for gold. The men have the resources they need but what this picture doesn't show is the long laborious hours the worked. The gold rush was ver important to the economy at the time.
#3. Farming/ Agriculture
This picture represents farming in the west, there is lots of open land, with a man farming with two horses. The farming industry was needed greatly for economy and food sources.
The factory and child labor laws during the progressive era where still very harsh. The men, women and children where working long and dangerous hours doing mechanical work in factories. You can see how there working environments where not the best. This work needs to be done and that is why they say this industry had no heart.
