Happy Friday, Lil Steamer Families!

September 2, 2022

Lil Steamer Families --

This week grades K-5 completed their fall benchmarking assessments. These provide us data in the areas of reading and math. This data is compared against national averages and help us determine how to best support students.

Sometime next week each student will be given a printed snapshot of their reading and math assessments to bring home. We want to be transparent with our benchmarking process and provide that data to families. If you have questions or concerns, please reach out to your child's homeroom teacher and they will be happy to help.

Have a great weekend,

From the desk of: School Counselor Mrs. Meumann

Social-emotional skills are some of the most fundamental things we can teach our students. In an effort to expand upon social-emotional learning (SEL) in our school, FES counselor Mrs. Meumann and District counselor Mrs. Facio have teamed up to include SEL tips/challenges in our morning announcements. Each day will have a theme accompanied by a tip that goes along with that theme.

The themes for each day are as follows:

  • Mindful Monday
  • Thankful Tuesday
  • Wellness Wednesday
  • Thoughtful Thursday
  • Feel Good Friday

We encourage families to ask their students about each day's SEL tip/challenge to spark conversations about SEL at home. We are looking forward to starting our SEL announcements when we return to school next week on Tuesday, September 6th.

4th and 5th Grade Chorus will start rehearsals Tuesday, September 6th! Students who are interested in joining should bring their permission slips back as soon as possible.

5th Grade Band- Students interested in joining band had a chance to meet with Mr. Anton this week to try out different instruments. Parents will get a letter in the mail sometime next week with more info on how to get your child signed up.
