NEW INFORMATION
Our custodial team has been working very hard to get the building cleaned and prepped for the start of the year. After 10 am tomorrow, you will be able to get in your rooms if they are located on the second or third floors. First floor is will be available soon! Please be very mindful in moving things in your rooms or in the hallway, as we don't want our team to have to go back over these areas that have been cleaned and waxed.
Additionally, the Staff and Student Family handbooks are prepared. The staff handbook is electronic through a website called LiveBinder. Below is the link to the handbook, including the access code you need to open it up. 99% of the handbook is complete; I am just waiting on a few pieces of information to update. We will discuss this more at the staff meeting on August 2nd. Please feel free to preview this prior to our meeting. Click on the tabs to see the documents.
I am including a link to the Contact Form for all staff members to complete this coming year. It has basic demographic information as well as questions aligned with how to best reinforce the hard work you do daily.
We have scheduled our Ice Cream Social Open House for Friday, August 3rd from 4:30-6:30 pm. Please put this on your calendar and be prepared to participate. These two hours will be traded out for comp time to use throughout the year. More details about the evening will be forthcoming....
Staffing Update-
- We had staff members participate in interviews last week and I have recommended individuals for our Assistant Principal and Instructional Coach positions. When these recommendations have been approved by the IPS Board of Commissioners, then I will introduce them to you!
- We are interviewing for our Admin Associate and Staff Custodian positions and hope to have these filled by the time school starts.
- Ms. Howard has announced her resignation. We wish her well and we will act to fill her position quickly.
REPEAT INFORMATION
Another big rock this year will be work around the Growth Mindset. This will be done through our monthly staff development meetings and book study. I have purchased the following books for you by Annie Brock and Heather Hundley:
- The Growth Mindset Coach
- The Growth Mindset Playbook
- In Other Words: Phrases for Growth Mindset
The Growth Mindset Coach will be the book we will spend time in as our book study; the other two will be resources for you to use.
We have secured additional devices for our students! At this time, we are looking at adding enough devices that we will be very close to 1:1 at every grade level. Once we receive these devices, we will have to look at redistributing the currently assigned devices.
Finally, we have submitted to use NWEA as our benchmark assessment tool for grades 3-6. Additionally, we have also submitted to use TRC as our reading level assessment for all grades. I hope to hear confirmation soon regarding the final decision. We will continue to use TRC/DIBELS for grades K-2.
