Planning for Next School Year

Dear Coonley Families,

We are actively planning for the 2023-2024 school year. Early registration for incoming students and early notification of transfers helps us to plan effectively for next year. Please fill out this form as soon as possible to let us know your family's plans for next school year. This information is incredibly helpful as we assign classrooms for the upcoming school year.

As you are no doubt aware, class placement is a perennial topic of discussion among parents. Families often request specific teachers for their children based on perceptions currently circulating among their acquaintances. As you can imagine, honoring all of these requests would be impossible, and difficult to balance classes.

We approach this process with great care to ensure each child is well-matched with a skilled and a caring teacher, and that each class is balanced in terms of overall size, gender, diversity, special needs and other factors. In order to ensure that each class is appropriately balanced, class placement is a staff decision, based on extension discussion of each student. We place great value on parent input about each child's personality, learning styles, and needs. However, we do not accept or honor requests for specific teachers. If you have information you wish to share concerning your child, please complete a Classroom Placement Information - Parent/Guardian Form no later than April 28th. We ask that you respect our expertise in this matter and not include specific teachers' names on the form.
